Do you have any college credits. Here in NJ, with 60 credits you can substitute teach. This fits with your kids schedule. Do try to not only get child support but spousal support until you get some education that pays a living wage. Imagine living for the rest of your life with no support from your ex on the income you make now. Right now the choices you make, and the support he agrees to give will affect you for years to come. If he can give spousal support that will enable you to go to school for just two years it will make a world of difference in your earning level.
And, no you weren't spoiled. You were married to the man. You took care of your home, your spouse and your children. Obviously your husband liked having these things taken care of. He worked outside of the home and took care of the money and your car and mechanical things. You worked in the home taking care of the children and household things. Both valid jobs. If he decided he didn't want to do this anymore he needs to help you until you make up for some of the lost time in the work force. Think about jobs that pay reasonably well, but will also give you some time with your children. Then think about which ones of these you could train for in two years or less. Our local hospital needs nurses so badly they are paying for your training as well as providing some income while you are in school.
I do identify and have been where you are. I love my work but I also need to work around kids schedules, even in the summer. By the way, I am proud of you and how strong you are. What an awesome model you are for your children.
