WE have been planning this for about 4 months and we decided to surprise our kids, they have no idea about our trip and I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas on how to break the news to them?? We are going to stay at a hotel near the airport the night before, how do we let them in on the plans for the following week?? I can't believe I haven't let the cat out of the bag yet!! It's amazing!!
We surprised our son for his 8th birthday. We didn't tell him untill we were on our way to the airport and had a very surprising mixed reaction. He had thought up a whole plan for his birthday without sharing it with us. What's a parent to do?? It ended up all good, and he got excited after just a few minutes but he told me he likes the anticipation part almost as much as going. Reallly surprised me for a child that young to think that through.
If I had it to do over I think I would start renting (or watching anyway) Disney cartoons and movies everyday... and every time "remembering" out loud what fun we had there. (Or what fun it would be to go.) The last video would be one of the "sing along, in the park" and then I'd say something like "we had so much fun thinking about it we decided to go!" That way they would be getting excited without you spoiling the surprise.
You could also go to the "Pay it Forward" thread and see if someone would send them a postcard... with their fav character either inviting them or saying "a little bird told me you were coming and I can't wait to see you".
I would think if someone was leaving tomorrow, that a card could make it to Toronto before you leave.
Hey we're staying in Toronto overnight also as our flight is at 625am to orlando. Kinda nice to start the fun early but that early!!!
Our kids already know though....the postcard thing is sooo fabulous. Our kids got theirs last week and my dd11 is still trying to figure out how she got this postcard ....she checked the postmark and stamps and everything. They are veryyyyy excited ~ almost as excited as I am.
How old are the kids?
Where are you staying?

Geez...I could never wait on a surprise like that. I am terrible and need to have the kids as excited as me. I think part of the fun has been our countdown to disney..every day putting up another number..today was 7!
Maybe hit the disney store and get them each a disney item or shirt and tell them they need to have/wear it for were you're going...or get one of the phone calls from a disney character. You can get them to call the kids and that can be how they find out they're going. It's quite cool. That would totally blow them away...a call from Ariel or Mickey Mouse??
Just a thought.
Have a wonderful trip!
