Going to WDW during New Year's Eve

They are not more money but you won't find any discounts that time of year. It's all "rack rate" EX. If All Stars is listed as $109 a night in the book, that's it, don't expect to see any annual pass or $49 specials.

On the other hand Jan 1st the price WILL go down to say, $89 a night rack rate or even a a discounted rate. The trick is you have to check out and check in again (staying in the same room) if you don't you'll be paying the same high room rate the whole time you are there.

Don't know about resort costs for New Years Eve or Day, but I know our DVC is less points on January 1st! BTW, we were at Epcot New Years Eve 1999/2000, and had a BLAST! Believe it or not, New Years Day was very quiet at the parks.

Just wanted to chime in here. My DH and I were there last New Year's, and while I don't have any info on resorts, let me tell you, the parks are CROWDED!!! Or, at least, the MK is. That's where we were. To give you an idea, we got the fastpass for BTMR, andsince we couldn't get another fastpass for awhile, we decided to wait in line for Splash Mountain. In hindsite, we should have done it the other way around, as we waited two hours for Splash Mountain!

I don't know about the other parks, but if you want to go to the MK, you might want to consider it on another day, like any day but New Years. When we bought our tickets, the lady told us to plan on getting to the park early on New Years Eve, and to stay all day, as we would never be able to get back in! We followed her advice. Major crowds. I don't regret doing it, but I wmight do it differently next time.

Rack rate at the All Stars for Holiday Season (Christmas and NYE) is $114.00 or $127.68 incl tax. This is for arrivals after December 19th. We are staying at All Star Music.

They usually charge full rack rate and that is the highest rate of the year. With tourism problems, they have offered discounts the last two years. Prior to that a discount during Christmas season was unheard of.

it is crowded then, I was there last year and had most fun at the pool

YIKES!

That's enough reason for me to NOT go at that time! I've always said I'd love to see WDW with their Christmas decorations, but now I'm not so sure!

Just go at the beginning of December. The first few weeks you get to enjoy all of the holiday decorations and activities without the crowds!!!! :) You get the best of both worlds although I do admit that it would be a fun experience to be at WDW for NYE just once to say you were there. :)
