I planned this trip not even thinking about HP. We are arriving on June 16th and planning on spending the 17th and 18th at Universal/IOA. We are staying onsite at RPH the 17th. Anyone have any advice as to what to do to avoid the worst crowds? Would it be best for us to hit IOA on June 17th, before the HP grand opening? We may go check out HP later before we leave on the 25th, just to say we saw it.

Try the early am for potter on the 17th, but if you don't want to deal with crowds and hoopla, go to the studios on the 18th.

You get in an hour early as an onsite guest. Use it, every day, and leave after that hour. Simple, you can see it all in that hour, and in comfort. On site seems really worth it especially for the first couple months or so, for just this reason. Then go see the rest of the parks.

Oh I am so right there with ya. Booked back when the opening was in the spring. I figured the crowds would have died down. Ok---so I was wrong. Ugh!! We should all wear "Who gives a flying broomstick" tshirt. LOL

Is this true? I've read conflicting reports on this, I think.

It is true, I have an the newsletter from Universal and it states that onsite guests will get in an hour early for WWOHP starting on June 19th.

They are trying to sell more room nights this summer it looks like. :thumbsup2

That. Is. Fabulous.

Thank you!

That may have been mentioned around here already, but to be honest, all the WWoHP stuff is making my head spin and I've begun to ignore it. I was actually prepared to skip it altogether, seeing how our arrival is 6/21. This may make it possible, thanks so much.
