It seems that I will be in Tokyo for business for a few days, so I am thinking about going to Tokyo Disney Sea and Disneyland for 3 days, and stay at one of the Disney hotels on points. How are the hotels? Any tips for the parks, hotels, or must dos?

I know other people think I am nuts, first time to Japan and want to spend it on Disney. But I am sure you guys understand.:)

I understand! Can't answer any of your questions about Tokyo, but I did the same thing a few years ago when I was in Hong Kong for work.

All of the Disney hotels are nice, but the Mira Costa is the numero uno and the price reflects that. We always stay in Tokyo and ride the train out to Disney so I'm not sure how many points you need and what the availability is. You'll need at least one day for each park. Disney Sea has some of the same attractions as WDW, but a lot of unique ones. The food is different too, especially the flavored popcorns and the gyoza sausage buns.
We stop in Tokyo every few years and wouldn't think of missing Disney, we all understand. We've been lucky enough to hit every Disney park and Tokyo Disney is our favorite after WDW. Depending on the time of year, the parks can be uber busy though.

Thanks. I am very much looking forward to visiting both parks. I have to wait until my travel plans are finalized before I can book Mira Costa. I figured it is rare for me to go there and I should just do what I really want to do.

Everyone around me, including DH, thinks I am a nut!!! Who goes to Japan and go to Disney in such a short trip?!!! To each of his own. I am sure people on this board understand!! I told DH that it is my trip, my time, and I decide how I want to do it!!!

I've just returned for a business trip that I extended for a couple of days. I spent a day and half at Disney and another day seeing other sights in Tokyo. Surprisingly, my coworkers weren't nearly as critical of my visiting Tokyo Disney as they are about my several trips to DL and WDW here in the states.

I think my favorite thing about the Tokyo parks were the shows that DisneySea puts on in Mediterranean Harbor. I saw the Legends of Mythica and BraviSeamo I think, both were fantastic and far superior to anything we have back here.

I told DH that it is my trip, my time, and I decide how I want to do it!!!

My DH plays golf almost everywhere he travels for work. Not sure why that is any different from visiting a Disney park, if there is one available. Enjoy yourself!!!

Thanks for the replies. I was just told today that there is no room at MiraCosta for my dates :(

Not sure if I want to splurge the points at the Embassdor hotel. Still trying to figure things out.

Threads like this one remind me why I think we need an international board with Paris, Tokyo, and Hong Kong on it. Yes we already have Paris, but I'm sure that there are other people like the OP who occasionally want to go to the Asian parks and there just isn't any info here on the DIS. Mods, are you listening:confused3

It would be super convenient to be able to stay at one of the Disney resorts, but I wasn't able to find anything available either. Ended up staying with my coworkers in town. It took me about an hour to get to and from Disney, but it only cost me $4 each way! Something to think about....

That is good to know. Now with DVC's charging $95 to do the booking, I am more set on just taking the train the Tokyo Disneyland, the fact that they have no rooms for even just 1 night (either a Sunday or a Monday in late Jan.) is amazing.
