The kids have NO idea! We are only going from Thurs-Monday because that's all dh could get off of work. We will pick the boys up from their last day of school on Thurs and head up. We should get there around 5.

We tent camp and requested the 1500 loop. Our 7yr old has a mild form of muscular dystrophy and is mobile. But we do what we can to make life easier for him and the 1500 loop being so much smaller than the 2000 loop definitely helps. We had site 1501 last time and it was PERFECT. I'll be happy with any site in 1500 though of course we know it isn't guaranteed.

We aren't doing any parks this time. We're going to enjoy the fort (swim, fish, campfire, etc) and we're going to take a day trip to Wachiva Springs. And we want to take the kids to the Central Florida Zoo as well to do the Zoom-Air experience which is like a huge obstacle course through trees with zip lines!

I am stressed out about certain things though. The heat for one. We just can't afford a portable A/C or window unit/boot right now as I had to put $200 worth of work into my van this morning. And of course I am terrified of the yellow flies! We have a screened in porch tent. But what about when we go fishing, etc???

We'll make the most of it....and the kids are going to be SO excited!

Bring whatever fans you have and keep them running inside the tent!!

A heavy duty extension cord, then a power strip will get you some air movement!!

Ugh, we only have 1 fan. It's one of those tall tower fan thingies (borrowing from my mom) and pretty powerful. Wonder if I should hit some thrift stores to see if I can find some more fans.....

We just returned from 3 day weekend at the Fort. We were lucky and got 1500 loop too :) While there were the dreaded yellow flies, only one of my dds was targeted; i think they may on decrease?? The heat wasn't bad for us but we are Floridians LOL Fri and Sat afternoon it rained the dreaded afternoon tstorm and thus Fri night it was COLD (again we are floridians so anything below 60 we're freezing) not too bad Sat night but we did have some thicker blankets. Last night was a little bit stuffy in the tent but I had one fan going. Not sure how next week will be; haven't read the paper to see the upcoming weather report.

Thanks for the info! Glad to hear the yellow flies might be on the decrease. Next week the highs are going to be in the upper 80's and lows in the low 70's....so not too horrible. We'll have the one big fan for the tent and we'll keep the windows open as long as there is no rain. And of course there are the typical Florida afternoon t storms in the afternoons predicted. So we'll be prepared. Hopefully.

borrow fans from some neighbors...they weren't on the decrease in 1800, and that is next door to where you will be staying...we were fine inside the screen room with the fans running...

i have some welts from those things....I have those little tornado fans...seem to work well for us
