Going to Tampa to watch hockey

With Tampa only being about a 45 min drive it is a great day trip to watch hockey for cheap. We got lower bowl tickets on stubhub for around $25. They have a great facility and parking was easy to find near by.
You can also hit the beach for the day if you wish to drive a little longer. Has anyone else explored checking this out?

We have! We did a day at Bush Gardens first and then headed to the game. such a fun day!

My son went to watch his home team (jets) in March. Traffic was bad the day they went though & they missed part of the first period even though they left in plenty of time! Way cheaper to watch there than at home!

We went to Tampa for a game back in December 2013. Took in both the Bucs and Lightning. Very easy to get around from our experience. Watch for the tolls though. We had lower bowl seats for both and they were very cheap! Would do it again in a heartbeat.

We saw our home team, the Oilers, play.
Clearwater beach was a great day trip.
I like the idea of checking out the Bucs, great idea.

We have seen the Leafs twice in Tampa. Booked the tickets on the Lightning website. First time there was a special, 4 tickets, 4 beers, 4 hotdogs free parking total cost 125.00 CDN. Couple of years ago no specials but got tickets for 30.00 Cdn each. Drove over from Orlando. Was a great place to watch a game!

Definitely give yourself a little more time than you think you need. The area around the arena is actually really neat and depending upon what is going on could get very busy. Florida Aquarium is right there along with the cruise port.

And if you want an even better experience for the Bucs, hit Bongo's beach bar in St. Pete's Beach. Right on the beach overlooking the gulf. TV's will be showing the game. Cold beer, great wings. Lots of locals. Awesome time. Spent a Sunday afternoon in there on my honeymoon with my wife while we were waiting for our room to be ready.
