Going to save by making baby food, which maker???

I have the Beaba babyfood cooker.

I LOVE it!

It is $149 in the stores, but I ended up getting it on Amazon for $117 with shipping.

It is sooo EASY to use. I'm not a cook at all and it is pretty much dummy proof. It does it all in 1. Cooks, steams, blends, etc.

I bought a couple of ice tray cubes with lids. Once frozen, I put the cubes in ziplock bags and make more food. I just take out the cubes the night before for the next day and put them in gladware containers.

The Beaba does not come with great instructions so the first time I was a little clueless. There are great youtube videos out there though. Now, I'm a pro and it takes very little time to make a huge batch of babyfood.

I've used it for green beans, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, pears, apples, and peaches so far.

The Beaba is pricey, but people sell them on ebay. I figure once I'm finished with it, I could sell it on ebay and get most of my $ back.

I have a friend who has the baby bullet and she stopped using it b/c she could never get the right consistency. The Beaba tells you how much water to use so there is no guesswork involved. It really is dummy proof and super easy to use.

Good luck!

I didn't read the whole thread, so this might have been mentioned already. I made nearly all of my DD's baby food. I bought a inexpensive Hamilton Beach food processor on sale for $20 (normally only $30). I froze the batches in normal ice cube trays, and then emptied them into freezer bags. No specialized equipment is needed at all, IMO.

I'm another who hardly pureed or processed at all. I'd pull out the food processor sometimes but mostly I just cut it up into very tiny pieces and then used a spoon to mash it up.

I just used the food processor or blender that I already had. Steamed it right on the stove. You could save even more money if you don't buy any new appliances.

The only thing extra I bought was ice cube trays to freeze it.

I have a bullet and a mini food processor and I use both to make baby food. Just steam on your stove top, or even bake, and then throw it in one of those. I've had to add a little water or juice to get the consistency I want but its very simple really. Freeze in ice cube trays then transfer to a Freezer ziplock bag and your done!

I just used my regular blender and ice cube trays! Most markets now have store brand organic frozen veggies and I used those along with different squashes and sweet potatoes. I made my DH do a taste test between store bought and homemade peas...it was amazing the difference!

I second the beaba baby cook! It is not cheap, but made making baby food fast and easy. If it was too much work I never would have kept up with it, and would have fallen back on jarred food.

That being said, I don't know if I saved any money. I bought all organic food and it was not cheap. I really think that earths best jars would have been cheaper in the long run, but I liked knowing there were no preservatives in my homemade food.
