I live in the town next to Salem...I stay as far away as I can...Crowds are crazy...In a fun way!:scared1:
If you go to restaurant.com and sign up today...You can get a certificate for a 1.00 for the great escape. Have Fun!:thumbsup2

I have the "Halloween Pass" from Salem wax Museum, and need to choose:
"EITHER the Cemetery Tour OR the Candlelit Ghostly Walking Tour" which is the better tour?

We went up several times. I would strongly suggest you consider going earlier in the month - the whole month is filled with events and it's just as fun (and a bit less crowded) earlier.

Not sure if they still have this going on but they used to do a mock trial of the first accused witch, Bridget Bishop.

We LOVE Salem Beer Works (awesome beer and good food!) I miss that place!

The Essex County Museum is actually really, really wonderful and only a small part of it touches on the trials. It gives you the perspective that this was just a very small blip in the long history of a proud, wonderful place.

House of Seven Gables is supposed to be great (never been there).

I am of no help, just wanyted to say this sounds "Wicked Awesome" and witch I was going with you! Halloween is my FAVORITE holiday!:maleficen

Expect wall to wall people, but have fun that particular weekend will be the craziest of all of October. Try to find time to come into Boston for the day too, not too far from Salem and lots to do.

Just want to say, I am jealous!!!! Everyone has givenyou great ideas, but you may also want to look into going to a pumpkin patch or festival.

Is the "Hilltop Steakhouse " still good to goto ? It's been decades since I have been there.

Thanks everyone for the great ideas! I only have 3 days and so many things to do! :yay:

OMG the Hilltop! That was the first real sit-down restaurant I remember going to as a kid! I thought it was awesome but sadly I haven't been there for years so I can't help you with it.

However right down the road is Kowloons!!!!! That is still awesome! Hit it in April when we went back home to visit.

The best advice I can give you - if you're driving - is to follow the designated electronic signs to Salem and stay off of my street, so I can get home from work hassle-free every night :rotfl:

HEY me too I live right off the common! Best advice be prepared to sit in traffic for HOURS... and the food at great escape is not all that great... beer works is really good as is the tavern

Before I went to Salem years and years and years ago...my Dad made me read a book about the witch trials. It was very cool to go see the cemetary and witch museums/houses and "know" who everyone was and the story behind them! THAT is my recommendation!

I meant to add.....have fun!! That sounds like a great trip for Halloween! I loved Salem...although it can be a bit cheesy.

the play is called 'Cry Innocent' (my bf, btw, is a direct descendant of Brigid) and they still did it last spring. It's really fun and interesting.

It gets reallly crowded the closer it gets to halloween. Me, personally, I wouldn't do it but I'm old an far*y now.

Gloucester is very close by...worth a drive to see the Hammond Castle and they also do schooner cruises and whale watches outta Gloucester. 2 weeks ago we saw 3 whales and a HUGE blue fin tuna doing flips in the air.

We are in Maine and go to Boston a few times a year - Hilltop Steakhouse is a MUST STOP for us each visit (our next Boston visit is TOMORROW!! :) )
