I was wondering how many of you travel to IOA/US solo, and how comfortable is it for you? I will be going solo in late August and am kind of nervous about doing the parks solo. I have no trouble travelling solo, I just think because of the shear size of both parks, I will be a little intimidated. Should I be worried, or should I just go and enjoy myself and not worry at all?
Thanks,
Jo

I've never went on vacation solo but I've gone to US by myself just to people watch and had a great time. It's never a good idea to worry so I'd say "Don't worry at all!"

I go solo to both parks pretty often since I live in Daytona Beach and most of my friends aren't in town for the summer. It's still a good time, and it's even easier because you can go in the singles line without having to worry about anyone else. However, I still prefer to go with other people, because I get bored standing in lines having no one else to talk to. But don't worry, you'll still have a great time.

I travel solo often. It's good to do things on your own and go where you want to go without people saying they don't want to do this or that. It's good to share the experience with others and talk to your friends or family in line or in the park, though. If I do travel solo, I usually bring along a Gameboy to pass the time in line.

Also, if you're a single rider, some ride ops will call for one person to fill in empty single spots. This happens a lot in TOT. CMs will call for single riders. If you aren't stuck behind a boiler, then you can wave to catch the CMs attention and you can skip a good portion of the line. If a ride op asks for a single rider, wave your arms or stick up your finger (not the middle finger please :) ).

You'll be fine, but if you feel intimidated ask for help. The employees there are very helpful.

LOL I can just imagine someone sticking up their middle finger! Thanks for the laugh!

I haven't travelled by myself, however, on our last trip DH became ill the day we arrived :(

We had already purchased tickets, so I let him sleep, and I went to IOA by myself for a day. Never had a problem, but we stayed on site, so I used the get to the head of the line perk the entire day.

The only thing that bothered me by doing it alone were my feet  It seemed that since I was by myself, I was moving right along through the park instead of going at a steady pace.

You should be fine - if you feel at all uneasy about anything, ask any of the park workers for help or assistance.

Go and have a great time!!:smooth:

You will not be intimidated by the size of the parks at all...very self contained and not a ton of walking like WDW. They are not that spread out. They basically go in a big circle, very easy and is designed so you will not miss anything.

While I don't travel alone, my husband and I frequently split up. I have done the parks alone the pros are this:

1. Single rider - less wait time shorter line
2. I have met the nicest people and have had great laughs with complete strangers.
3. Love sitting at the bar at Finnigans, drinking margaritas and meeting people that are either solo travelers or so their seperate ways for the day.
4. Not having to hear whining from DH---"jaws again...MIB again...how many times can you ride the same ride" "We were ust here 4 months ago!" ( Can't help it --I'm a 40 y/o kid)
5. Eating whatever you want without someone reminding you of your "diet".

Relax and have a great time, you will love it. After a spin on the Mummy....you will be ready to go. Maybe we will see you there, we will be there again late August too!:teeth:

Hope this helps you

whenever i travel with my family, my mom lets me have a four or five hours to myself, while her and my little brothers either visit a water park or stay at the pool, or just hang out in the room cause they are tired of walking. lol:p . i love it. its fun taking things at your own pace and doing what YOU want to do:bounce: ...you'll really like it and prolly make new friends...i always end up talking to complete strangers and carrying on a full conversaation with them.. which is awesome. Dont sweat it

U should have a good time most people in groups split up to try and do their favs u only have to please yourself:jester:
