Hi,
We bought tickets way back for the launch that didn't happen on July 1st. They weren't much more $$ than the regular max pass and included two days max admission to the space center, either one day before or after the launch and the launch date. I was told the tickets are now sold out. When the launch didn't happen that day the KSC employees handed out tickets that you have to have in order to come back for subsequent tries. I don't think you can get tickets now to be on Kennedy Space Center grounds. You have to have a placard for your car also to even get close to that area.
That said there should be many places you could view the shuttle, although farther away. If you can find somewhere to be along the beach in cape canaveral or cocoa beach etc. There will be a lot of traffic in the beach areas, especially with tomorrow also being the 4th of July.
Good luck. We couldn't stay around, had to get back to work. Were really disappointed it didn't go last Saturday. Hope you have better luck.
