Going to HH in December-HELP!

My family and I are going to HH first week of December and staying in the Grand Villa. We usually do one big cruise each year but this year DH and I are building a house and my mom is adopting a baby from China so we decided to do something a little simpler. (By the way, Baby Jade should be here mid-July)
Anyways- the only time all of us could get vacation at the same time was December. For anybody that has been there is the weather going to be absolutely miserable? Most of us are originally from NY and can handle the cold but I want to make sure there are plenty of things to do in the area since there won't be much swimming. Any tips or advice would be AWESOME!

You will very likely be able to swim in the pools -- they are heated. It's a little "iffy" getting OUT of the pool, but a lot of people enjoy them year 'round. The hot tub is also a very popular place in the cooler weather, but you have the same problem when you get out!

You can plan a day trip to Savannah or Beaufort. You might actually be able to eat at Paula Deen's restaurant without as much of a wait! Personally, I think that Charleston is too far away for a day trip, but you can try that, if you'd like.

Most of the major restaurants will still be open, and you'll be able to enjoy them without the usual long waits.

If anyone is a golfer, you may want to do that, as well. Rates will be low and you won't have to endure the unbearable heat of winter.

BTW, congrats to your mom on Baby Jade! How wonderful of her to do that!!!

And, being in the GV, you'll have the wonderful fireplace to take advantage of! I'm sure you'll love it!!!

Biking is my favorite thing to do in HH and December has perfect weather for this. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful trip and congrats on the new addition to your family.

I feel much better now about going in December! I will take you both up on your suggestions. Most of do golf including DS and DD so we will definately try that. I heard the golfing is great there!
