Going to Disneyland but would love to go to the beach 1 of the days

We have a group of 15-18 that would like to go to the beach during our stay at Disneyland. We were thinking to take the bus to the closest beach. Does anyone know what the bus line is called? We've seen the bus stop across the street on harbor blvd. Has anyone taken the bus to the beach? Would it be better to rent a big van? What is the closest beach? huntington? Any input we'd appreciate it. Thanks!

I think Huntington and Newport are both pretty close, I don't know about the bus situation but it would probably be pretty exp to rent a van big enough for that many people

I don't know about transportation, but my sister-in-law and her group went to Seal Beach after Disneyland. The 8 of us rented a shuttle van (a spendy $120 or so since she called from the park the night before--cheaper via website). Didn't take long to get there, and the beach was not crowded on Saturday. Friends of hers often suggested Newport & Huntington, but also added the words "popular" and "crowded". She didn't want crowded, so found Seal Beach.

We stayed in Buena Park one year for another event and went to both Disneyland and Huntington Beach. Very close. The road to Huntington Beach, Beach Blvd. was a major thoroughfare. Feels like there would be good bus route around there.

I'd say Huntington all the way. I grew up there, but sadly no longer live there. However, it is a straight shot down any one of the major streets from Disneyland.

There's Beach as was mentioned above, Harbor, Euclid, Brookhurst (our street!) I'd stay on any one of those four and you'll be just fine. In a car, it's about a 30ish minute drive, but in a shuttle, I'm not so sure because of scheduled stops and whatnot. Perhaps there are straight-shots? Either way, it's not that bad of a drive. You'll probably get there within the hour.
