Only my luck. We are supposed to leave for Disney tomorrow after work. My hip has really been hurting me for the last couple of weeks. I had been taking the medication that I take for my sciatic nerve problem but it wasn't helping. I had tried to get in touch with my doctor but we kept missing each other. Well I finally got to see him and right away he tells me I have bursitis! When I told him I was going to Disney he decided to give me a cortisone shot! I was not prepared for that. It hurt!!! I think my hip feels a little better. It doesn't hurt the same way and I can move a lot better, but it sure does hurt where I got the injection. I am trying to ice it but between my three kids, work, and trying to get ready for this trip it sure is hard.

Hopefully the shot will help. Did he give you any other advise on what can help. I have arthritus really bad in my one ankle to the point that I would be limping after a few days. Now based on my doctors recommendation I just take advil each morning of my trip and it doesn't bother me as much.

Try and take it easy. Try and take a mid-day rest. Maybe even a visit to the hot tub.

Enjoy your trip!

Bursitis is an inflamation of a bursa, or fluid filled sack, in the joint. If you can take an anti-inflamatory drug like Ibuprofin (Advil) and ice the area, that should help you some. I have never had a cortisone injection but have heard that they are very painful but usually give good results.

Take it easy and have fun.

Cortisone shots have helped my arthritic knees, and yes, a bit painful afterward, but usually good relief for a time. Good advise above, and enjoy your trip.
