Going to Disney on Friday and have a few questions

We are going to Disney on Friday and I have a couple of questions.

What are the crowds like this week usually?

We are planning on packing a lunch, I know when I was growing up we were able to sit in the parking lot with our chairs and have a tail gate and eat. Can you still do this?

Yes you may do so as long as you are not out in the traffic. There is also a picnic area on the northwest side of the esplanade. I saw someone out on the grass having lunch at the south side of Pinocchio parking lot.

Not sure about crowds this week, but note that parking is not close to the park. If you're returning to your car for lunch, you need to leave the park and board a tram for the ride back to the parking structure. It will take a bit of time out of your day to do this.

There are picnic areas outside the parks but inside the esplanade. You can take a hard sided cooler there, get a locker and then come back later for lunch.
