Going to Disney for first, what first?

We are going to WDW for our first time. It will be me my 2 sons 15 & 13, my daughter 9, and my mother. We are driving from NJ. We are going to MK, Epcot, MGM, Animal Kingdom, DQ, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon for 14 days. My friend says go to Epcot first so we are like "wow this is nice" and have a nice day there, go on the rides like soarin' whatever, start slow. Then go to MK because your blown away when you see all the stuff they have there. She said not to go to MK first and see all the nice stuff then go to Epcot or something expecting something like MK and walk in and be like "Wha...Wha...What the hell?" or have one your kids conplain on how corny this is or "I don't want to learn about the brain or how my body works. I'm on vacation not in school, I'll learn this in September, Mom" or "I'm bored" , "I want to Go home", or "I hate these rides lets go back to MK" .Then my mother would yell at me like "Listen to the kids, just go to MK I liked it too. I really don't want to hear this the first time I go or won't go again or I'll go with just me and my mother and be at the spas the whole time . So, is there good order to go in for these parks so we have a good time? Please reply!

For a first trip, ygoing to MK first is a must. After you ahve been there once or twice, then you can decide when to go to the different parks. MK is WDW.

the kids might like some of the other parks better than MK because the other parks have more teen oriented thrill rides to going from MK the first day to another park may not cause as much anxiety as you thought. the major thrill rides in my opinion are
MK-- space mountain maybe
epcot-- mission space, test track, soarin
AK-- dinosaur,
mgm--tower of terror, rockin roller coaster
so with the other park having more thrill rides it might be better to go to MK first. but teenagers will be how they want to be no matter what (i teach high school math so i deal with them every day) if they will try to appreciate the wonder and imagination that it took to make the parks then they will have fun no matter where in the world they are.

Keep in mind I went to MK in 1973 and Epcot right after it opened. I thought that the MK was better but the Epcot of the time was pretty good. If I were showing up to day, I'd say "MK, then Epcot - and Epcot sucked".

Always to Epcot before MK - managing expectations, don't cha know....
