Ok before our stay at CBR this year we were considering buying DVC at AKV but a new car purchase used up the emergency fund! We still done the tour but didn't particularly think "their" finance deal was a good offer & the developer points were no use as we wouldn't be going next year anyway. But since returning we have started to think about it once again,we still want to go to WDW every 2 years ,until we are too old to fly,& although we are happy to stay off-site the lure of DVC is swaying us.
Any way to get to the point: I understand the theory of Home resort but how easy is it to get into the others? Looking at the prices of re-sale versus DVC direct,we could get SSR for approx $80/point,saving us about $4000 & this would still give us 45/46 years, and still be able to stay at the other resorts.I envisage going Sept & May mostly so the actual park period isn't busy but don't know if that holds true for DVC resorts, how soon can you book non-home resorts?
Any way thanks in advance SD:thumbsup2

you can book at 7 months for non resorts. I have managed to book Beach Club for May at 7 months which is a small resort and popular. As I undertsand October - January is a busy time for DVC so I am not holding much hope for Beach Club or Boardwalk in October. I think in May and September you should not have any problems.

I booked Beach Club for last August with no problems :goodvibes

I've booked Saratoga a couple of times at two months out although I own at OKW. This was for September though. If you're a bit flexible on your dates and don't go at peak season I think you should be ok.

All of the resorts are great, personally I don't really mind where I stay. I prefer to go for less points than make a big fuss out of having to stay at a certain resort. Some have great grounds, others nice decor, others a brilliant location. As long as I'm at DisneyWorld it's fine with me :)

After originally booking one of our home resorts (SSR) at the 11 month window, I switched to BWV at 7 months and this was in October during half-term so no problem there. I think if you're flexible and patient you can get into many of the resorts most of the time... :thumbsup2

I am hoping to get BWV next october half term so hope we have luck.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! :goodvibes I just rang everyday and it was no problem tho' I think the fact that I opted for 1 bed might have something to do with it as I believe there are more 1 beds than anything else. Also asked for pool view (which are more points per night) as the lesser point value rooms go very quickly. I'm intending to switch a 3 night VWL stay to either BWV or BCV next September... ;)
