Going in Sept-Oct 2001-where to stay

My friends and I are planning our trip to DL sometime in late September or Early October. With the new park opening up any ideas on where to stay? Should we "stay" in the new park or in DL. We do want to stay on-site. My friends haven't been to DL in at least 15 years. (I was "just" there about 5 years ago) Also since I am asking for advice, how long do you think we should stay. I am thinking at least 6 nights.

My preferences would be:
The Grand California, then Disneyland Hotel and last but not least Paradise Pier.
I am sure a lot of it will depend on how much you want to spend.
All the hotels are very nice and I would love to stay at any of them.

Time wise six days should give you plenty of time to see everything. Remember that at that time of the year that the park hours are reduced somewhat so that will give you your evening free to explore Downtown Disney.
