Hey ya'll It has been a few years since we've gone to FW and this is the first time my family and I are going in May as apposed to April now that everyone is in college. What's it like early May with crowds and weather? and besides the slide at the pool what's new and exciting since 08?

We went in May 2010, the first week of May, and the crowds were not bad at all. Most rides we waited 15 mintes and some we walked right on. The weather was actually nice, but May can go either way. We did break a sweat, but it was surprisingly cooler than we thought it would be. It was warm enough to go to the Water PArks and we didn't feel like bacon in a frying pan.

Thank you, usually we went around Spring Break time from March to April which was a mess with crowds so I think we've seen the worst when it comes to that. But we are going 2nd week of May and since its been a while we are over excited! ha!

Not many changes at the Fort in that time. No peacocks or chickens. Not as many racoons or armadillas. Not as much foliage between sites. New plantings and irrigations systems between sites. Occasional otter and small gator sitings in the canals. Still have the Backyard BBQ and HDDR. Still a good place to kick back and relax between parks.

Weather wise May is our favorite time of year to visit. Warm without being too humid. :thumbsup2 You may find it getting a bit more crowded closer to Memorial Day.

I'll be there in early May also. It's usually pretty sweet. The weather is warm during the day and pleasant not cold at night. It's not humid so the daily afternoon thundershowers that come during the summer aren't there yet. Crowds drop down after the Spring Break-Easter rush and don't pick up again until early June when the "school's out" crowd shows up.

What's new? Was the 600 loop expanded out to the Meadow Trading Post then? Hate that it's so close. The TP doesn't sell much FW merchandise anymore. Trails End Buffet is not what it once was. But the Fort still has lots of magic.

I read a little about the 600 loop and I'm not even sure if they started paving it last time I was there, I kinda can't wait to see it. Im not sure if I would want to stay in the new section though. Anyone have pictures or have stayed in 600? what do yall think?

The entrance and parking lot are different, TCD ranch is now up front, and there is no more kennel at the fort- which is really sad.

There is now a Wilderness Segway tour, lots of fun.

I would have to say the 600 loop is parking lottish. The sites are packed in with very little shrubs/trees and very little privacy. Some folks like it though due to the view of the canal. I find it to be too tight and bare on landscape.

some of the loop signs look new. a lot different then the last picture i took of one! man i can't wait to go, the little things get me excited about it ha!

Some of the fish are ,much bigger.
Buddy Bob and I caught some really nice cats a few weeks ago.
Some real purty bass too.

We would go in May when my kids were little, back in the 90's..the way I remember it, beautiful weather, low crowds. As kids got older we did the summer..hot weather, afternoon rains, very crowded. Kids now in college so we went in May 2009, still talking up how great this time of year is. Florida had record rainfall, had a tornado warning and the parks close earlier than summer. Never heard the end of it!!! We are now going in August 2011, hot weather, afternoon rains, and staying at the parks til close(we do every Extra Magic hours). We also stayed in the 600 loop and didn't mind it at all. But as you can see we aren't at the camper all that much either. We had the site right near the bridge so it wasn't a long walk to the movie or pool. Bus stop was right across the street, we had a cart from Kenny (also had 4 sets of golf clubs and 4 adults in a 4 seater cart) which turned out great cause he has flaps for the torrential rains.. so we didn't use the bus. But I'm not complaining cause we are all together in my little fantasy world called Disney no matter what time of year it is.....Gotta go I'm starting to tear up.
Go with the flow and Enjoy!!

We went in May 3 years in a row, first year the weather was great low 80's. Second year we needed jackets, the temps never reached mid 60's. The last year it was hotter than Hades.

The only crowds we noticed were school groups at Epcot.

Have fun, wish we were there now November can't come soon enough.
