Going in late July: early entry enough or do we need FOTL?

We plan to check out IOA for one day with an onsite stay at Cabana Bay on 7/26. While our primary focus is HP, we want to experience the rest of the park as much as our schedule will allow that day. Our meals will be counter service and we don't plan to attend the shows. Is early entry enough or should we switch to one of the other onsite hotels so that we get FOTL too?

My opinion, and the over all consensus I believe you will get, would be to switch to a deluxe and get express. Yes, you can get most things done with just early entry but, being that you are only doing one day, express will make your groups visit so much more enjoyable!

@es45 Not knowing any specifics, switching to deluxe and getting the express would be my initial recommendation since you will only be there one day. However, you can absolutely go forward with your plan if you are flexible and okay missing some attractions. I would say it really depends on how often you visit IOA and if there are specific attractions that your party wants to see (outside of HP).

If there are a few must have rides you are looking to do, with the plan of then meandering around the park for any remaining time you have, you may be fine. If you want to hit every ride and you don't have express - it can be exhausting.

This is our first trip to IOA with our girls and it sounds as though we should take advantage of the FOTL benefit by changing resorts so that we can really enjoy our visit. Thanks for the feedback, everyone!

It's a smart choice. Look at it this way you would be always wondering if you stayed deluxe. Also you don't need to use the buses and walk all the way in from the parking garage.

It also frees up time to use the express for other rides after you finish Potter stuff.

it is well worth it to make your first visit to the darkside an easy one.
stay onsite and enjoy everything the darkside has to offer you and the family.

easy pace, relaxing mood and the perks that come with the deluxe hotels.
