Hey all, I was just hoping I could get a few opinions from those of you who have visited in January...trip already booked so were going, but I just need a little reassurance that it was a good month for most things, THANKS A BUNCH!!!

hello

we are also going again in jan- last time we went mid jan and found the parks not crowded!!- we were only there 4 days but had a chance to get on many of our fav rides over and over with minimal to no wait!!

my only concern with jan is weather- you never know what you shall get- when we arrived the temps were in the 70's just perfect- but over nite a cold spell came and we were walking around WDW with our winter coats, gloves and hats!! approx high temp for those days was 35 to 45 degrees- and the day we were leaving the temps were back up in the low 70's- you just must be prepared- layer your clothes!

i would rather have cooler weather and no crowds then to be melting in the summer and fighting the crowds!!

enjoy

This January will be our 14th in a row. We have gone in April, June and September. January is my favorite. The days are usually just cool enough for walking around and the nights are sweatshirt weather. My 2 daughters and I love this weather. The June trip was too hot and the April and September were all rain.
The crowds are pretty non-existent depending on which week in January. Martin Luther King Birthday week can be a bit crowded, and the Disney Marathon usually falls out in that time period. I think you will really enjoy your trip. Maker sure you pack some sweatshirts!

We have gone 4 times in Jan and are going again. We like it because the crowds are low and the weather can be pleasant. We only had one trip where we actually had to buy DD a winter coat because we didn't bring one. We still had a great trip despite the cold.

The second reason I like Jan is because you get the great after xmas sales at the Disney Store in DTD. We buy a lot for the next Xmas during this time and ship it home:jester:

We went last January...2nd through the 6th, to be exact. The parks weren't crowded at all, and the E ticket night we attended was fairly deserted. Of course, part of that could have been due to the lousy weather. Basically for 2 out of the 5 days, it was in the low 40's and drizzly--- the other days were clear but COLD---til the last day when it finally hit the 60's, and of course, we had to leave. On E ticket night it was 32 degrees with a 23 degree windchill factor-- not something that happens often in Central Florida. The next morning, we were scraping ice from the seats of Aladdin before we could sit down to ride it! I don't think I have worn that many layers of clothing in my life. I felt like a "weeble that wobbles, but won't fall down"! Of course, the up side to the whole thing was that at home, they were having 12 inches of snow...lol! So, in perspective, we were having it GOOD!

Make sure to pack for ANYTHING, that way you don't go unprepared. There is nothing worse than going, and not having what you need to be comfortable!

Jan. is a great time to visit. The weather can be iffy. If you are prepared for all kinds of weather you will be fine!

January is the best time to go.....this will be my 9th year in a row going! Martin Luther King weekend is busy as well as the marathon, the marathon is the worst!! Usually every year we swim a couple of days and wear our winter jackets all in the same week!!! I'm looking forward to my stay at the Polynesian this January!!
:D

Okay, when do the Marathon crowds arrive? It is on Sunday January 12 this year, so when do the mobs arrive?

I'd like to know this also as we are planning to go to the MK that Sunday. We got CRT breakfast resies at 8:50 so I really can't switch the plan at this point. What should we expect?

We have been during the marathon for the past 3 years and never noticed the parks being crowded. I know they close the main road during the marathon for the race.
