Can anyone help? My family are going in December (2nd) this year. We are staying on I Drive and are looking for tips such as whats open or not and if Dusney water parks are both open. We have been before in November 2004 and jammed in as much as we could. What I am looking for is advice and tips. My son will be 6 at the time of flying. Will he be too young to swim with dolphins?
Many thanks. pirate:

In december the water parks are open but only 1 each day, so one day typhoon is open the next blizzard beach.

We swam with the dolphins last year and there were several kids of about 3 or 4 years old there also. They looked to be really enjoying themselves!

Last December Blizzard Beach closed for rehab for most of December (until the 25th I think), and then Typhoon Lagoon closed for rehab until Feb. 25th.

The riverboat in MK was also closed last December for rehab.

I believe there will some rehab. work at Pleasure Island in December 2006 especially to the West End Stage area.

Agree with Tim, typhoon lagoon was open from mid october through to end of first week of december then blizzard beach was open.

I did post this after your other post but here it is again in case you didn't see it :)

Early December is possibly the best time to visit WDW as far as crowds go. You won't wait in much of a line for anything except the really popular attractions (and even those the lines will be shorter than normal).

There are some great extras in terms of stuff that goes on - you could try Mickey's Very Merry Xmas Party at MK, Osborne Lights at MGM, the Candlelight Processional at Epcot and of course the Xmas decorations are up everywhere at WDW so it is very magical. I recommend checking out some of the resorts too.

The only downsides I can think of are the parks will be open for less than at peak season (but at least it will be quiet so you can get so much more done!) and the weather can be rather changeable.

Some people experience great weather in December - I have heard it described as "perfect parks weather" as you can go round the parks and not get over heated. It can turn rather cold though so I recommend packing some warmer clothes as well as your shorts

It's the first time I could face these boards tonight!! I planned a trip for 12 months for last December 4th-18th. I booked the Mickeys Merry Xmas Party, a night at Hard Rock Hotel, Candlelight Processional Package, Character meals at Ohana's (Lilo & Stirch) & Crystal Palace (Winnie the Pooh) and much more!! On a prevous visit to WDW, it was recommended that the time between Thanksgiving & Xmas was a good time to visit. I booked the VIP lounge @ Manchester, Premier seats, and a limo transfer as a surprise for my DH & DD, I was so excited!!. Then I went into hospital for a major op that was routine, 4 weeks recovery, in October. Here I am today, 16weeks later, after complications almost healed, the holiday a long distant cancelled memory, I am so disappointed!!! Don't know what I'm most upset about, loss of holiday, state of health or unable to spring the surprise I kept quiet for 11 months!! Go in December and let me know how fab it can be. Going to the US soon but trying something different. Couldn't wait till December to go to Disney and didn't want to go and not do the Xmas thing!!

Oh Simon, what a shame. I wish you a speedy recovery and a trip in the future pixiedust:

We've been the day after boxing day and well into january and the weather can go from being glorious to cold and on some morning there was frost on the car. Having said that I'd go back any day. It was one of the best times at disney. You will be able to see all the christmas lights, parade and mickey's christmas party, candlelight procession, and they have the tree lighting at EPCOT. You'll have a great time. MARIA

Thanks everyone for the replies. Simon I hope you get better soon and on my return I will let you know what its like. I agree with everyone else about Disney, so long as you are there thats all that matters. As my wife Donna :sunny: says, I'm excited now what will I be like with weeks to go! pirate:
