Woohoow we've been doubting ever since we came back home in November but we finally reached an agreement:
- Booking Room only Sequoia Lodge/Cheyenne
- Dreampas for me and a fantasy for the boyfriend, both will be bought trough multi avantages site since they are a lot cheaper and I'm already way over my budget to be honest.
I've been nagging my boyfriend for weeks to call the reservations line for me to inform for the room only prices .Yet we both have a very unhealthy fear for phonecalls so it usually turned out in a "you're calling - no you're calling - no I'm not calling, you do it!". Yet this morning I put my saddest little puppy face on and showed him a preview video for Dreams and he FINALLY made the call. I was jumping all over the living room while he was calling while mutely mouthing everything he had to ask. :rotfl:

Prices were a bit higher then expected tough. €697 for Cheyenne, €832 for Sequoia Lodge and €949 for Newport Bay Club. All standard rooms, 3 nights, arriving the 7th of august. We asked if arriving an other day in august would be cheaper but they told us no. To bad, we we're sort of counting on an extra 10% discount seeing as you do get these with the package deals on their website if you arrive on Sunday.
So we scratched Newport Bay Club of immediately. Went waaaay over our budget. Especially since we have to pay for our annual passes too! That's an extra €300 to keep in mind...

Anyway we've decided to go for a night less, so 2 nights in stead of 3 and we'll be arriving the 8th of august, and as a peace offering (Boyfriends idea, I immediately started nagging again that he promised me 4 days a year and that I was going to get those 4 days too :rotfl:) he promised we'll go between january and august 2013 for a second trip of 3 days to use our anual passes to the fullest. So now I'm getting 2x3days instead of 1x4, fine by me!
His condition for the anual passes was that we'd stay in a Disney hotel both times tough, so that does make it a bit more expensive then it has to be. But ah well, I have to admit, if I didn't have to look at my budget, I'd probably be staying at the Disneyland Hotel everytime so sort of do understand him.

Yet now we can't pick between Cheyenne or Sequoia Lodge. We've stayed in both, yet last time in Sequoia Lodge we both LOVED the hotel. I had my eyes set on it before we went to Disney the very first time yet it always was out of budget. I didn't know where I had it when we had actually been able to book it for November. Yet I do wanna be able to eat out and have some other things then fast food and buy some souvenirs too. So sort off a dillema now: Go for our favorite hotel, or save on the hotel by going to Cheyenne and having more money to spend when we're there?

I know we'll have discounts with our passes, so I'm hoping that'll help. We loved being able to walk to the hotel in Sequoia Lodge and the breakfast and vibe there was a lot more our style then Cheyenne. Yet Cheyenne wasn't bad neither (just would miss the petit gervais yoghurts in the morning. I ate so many of those at SL!). We'll be spending most of the time in the parks anyway, yet if it's going to be a really hot summer I'll probably run around cursing myself that I hadn't opted for a hotel with a swimming pool. First time we went we stayed in Santa Fe and was in august, which was HOT that year (2009) and we had to flee into a cold shower or poor a bottle of water over our heads quite often. So I'm sort of afraid we'll have such a summer again (don't get me wrong, I like a good, hot summer, yet I do want a pool to cool off in if that's the case) and that if we'll be staying at Cheyenne, we won't have a chance to get away from the heath. The rooms there don't have air con neither, and we do wanna sleep at night.
What would you guys do? Spend the extra money on SL or just opt for Cheyenne?

Sort of looking for dining tips to. We know we're gonna go for Annette's and Café Mickey each at least once. Yet we're doubting on what to plan when/where. We wanna see as much of the new shows and parades as possible. Other restaurants that came to our mind where Plaza Gardens (been here in 2009, liked it a lot, is it still good?) and we we're hoping to find something other in the park. Yet which would you guys go for lunch and which for dinner? Since we wanna be in the park at showtime I was thinking about going for dinner in the parks. Other option would be eating after the shows (yet no idea what time Dreams etc. are going to be on?) and seeing as we walk to the hotel we have to pass trough Disney Village anyway.

We're having lunch and dinner both the first two days. Third day I was thinking of just having late lunch (not fast food, maybe Café Mickey or something?) since we'll be driving home by car and wanna leave at about 18 PM. We'll, the boyfriend drives, so he does. Yet we're leaving on a friday (original plan was 7th 'til 10 but if going 3 days we'll arrive 8th of august and leave the 10th) so I'm hoping I'll be able to convince him to just stay late and come home late since he can sleep in on saturday and sunday anyway. In this case we could have dinner and lunch the third day too but for now I'm just looking for a late lunch option. I'll keep you guys posted if our plans for the last day change!

So basically, my questions are:
- Cheyenne or Sequoia Lodge?
- Plaza Gardens, Annette's Diner, Café Mickey and looking for 2 other restaurants, any tips? And when should we schedule which? Oh, in case it helps: We love pasta, pizza and the Annette's burgers. Not really fans of the classy fish dishes/foie fras or something like those. So basically: just simple things, no high class expensive French cuisine, that just isn't our taste. Expect for the crème brulée.
- Arriving 8th of august and leaving 10th. I've read at tripadvisor that fridays are least busy in summer so we planned it like this. What do you guys think? We can change the date, just has to stay in august. Other option my BF liked was the week after (15th till 17th) yet 15 and 19 are holidays for France so I fear it will be busier then.
- Will Enchanted fireworks and Fantilusion still be on, or are these of the programm because of Dreams?

Sorry about the long post, I'm just so excited!!! :rolleyes1
Thank you in advance for any tips or help!

Hi

Can't help with all the bits but if it were me in August I'd go for the hotel with aircon and a pool esp at the longer days mean you might want to have a quick dip if it's hot.

August is still a while away so fingers crossed you'll be able to save a bit more spending money if you pay for the hotel beforehand.

Re the fireworks - Dreams is pretty much replacing Enchanted Fireworks. Fantillusion will still be on in the summer as well as Dreams. I think Dreams will be fairly late as it needs to be dark - would also think, but it's not confirmed, that fireworks will feature in the summer Dreams show - DLRP are not allowed to set fireworks off every night so most people think there will be 2 styles of Dreams, one with fireworks and 1 without running at lower season perhaps :confused3.

to be honest, I wouldn't book anything at all onsite for August yet. I've just had a quick look, and for your dates on the official site (the UK version) the Cheyenne is £608 and the Sequoia Lodge is £734, this is for one adult and includes park hopper tickets for 3 days for one adult in both prices. These are the brochure price, no special offers. I'd expect at least a 25% off deal to come up before August for your dates.

I'm from Belgium, and the package prices I compared with on the Belgian site are already with 30% off. Yet room only + anual pass only costs us €50 more and seeing as we're going twice with our AP's, we think we'll get it out. We've doubted a lot and calculated a bunch of prices (no discount, 30%, 40% if arriving on sunday, ...) yet taking in account that we'll be going for another trip it does seem to save us a few euros. We haven't booked yet, but we're hoping to do so before April anyways. So still time to change our mind if a better offer comes online. Yet we're no expecting to get any better then 40% off. Thanks for the advice both of you! Glad to hear Fantilusion will still be on by the way!

Usually packages with park tickets included come up cheaper than the room only prices. To get around this people with annual passes often book a package with just one adult in the room and then add the rest of the people to the booking when they arrive. Doing this the extra people just pay a few euros local tax.

yes, this is usually the cheapest way of staying onsite. If you are a party of 2 adults, and you always want to stay onsite at DLP, to be honest theres not really much point in you having 2 APs, just buy one for the discounts whilst onsite and for park entry for that one person, and book the other person in on a one-adult package including a park hopper ticket.

You also don't have to book through your own country's version of the DLP site for the one-adult package, you can book through whichever country is giving the best price. Your confirmations all comes by email, no matter which country you use to book, and this causes no problem at all at check-in :).

I've just been looking at that option, and it would only be 80€ less for a one person bedroom. Yet indeed, with going two trips in theory it'd be 2x80€ we're paying les= €160 which would get an AP out of it. The down side of booking a one person room is that you always have to pay a bit extra because officially you're staying alone. I'm gonna do some calculating later today again.
Also I didn't know it was possible to book trough an other country's website? I read on DLRPfans (Dutch fanforum) that this was NOT possible. Are you sure of this that it is? Because looking at prices for the Dutch, those are already cheaper then Belgium at some dates! So definitaly worth a try. Yet is there any risk with doing this? Will our insurance (we always take the multirisk one Disney itself offers) still be valid and stuff?
And also, if we book a one person stay, I buy a AP an pay tourist tax, should I write this down when booking (I believe there is a remarks/extra field in which you can note special wishes etc. when booking?) so they already know we'll be staying with two, yet just one with tickets and one with AP + tourist taxes?

Thank you all so much for the given advice! You're wonderfull!

honestly, lots of folk from this site have booked through other country's websites to get the best offers. All your confirmation comes by email, and really all you need is your booking confirmation number anyway, to check in at your onsite hotel.

I don't know anyone who books Disney's own insurance as its so expensive compared to other providers, so I can't help you there.

No, you don't have to let Disney know about the extra person you are checking into your room when you book it (that may well confuse the booking agents, to be honest). Just call the hotel a few days before you go and tell them you need a room for 2 rather than one, just to make sure there will be enough beds in the room (but as there are only 2 of you anyway, this won't be a problem at all).

Figured I'd keep you guys posted:
Boyfriend just emailed his chef for the days off, he's gonna try to get a hold off him before tomorrow so his vacation days are finally settled. As soon as we have this confirmation we're gonna book a one person package for him at Sequoia Lodge and order my Dreampas trough multiavantages.
Thank you so much for the advice all! I checked all other countries sites but was all almost the same so just booking trough the Belgian site with the current 30% off.

EDIT: BF just texted that his days off are approved! WOOHOOW! So we finally get to make our reservation tonight! :D
