Hiya,

I just booked a stay at HHI from May 17th to May 23rd in a 2 bedroom (we're hoping to convince my grandmother to come with us.) Having never been to Hilton Head, what can people tell me about it? What type of room location might be ideal to request for a party with an 80 year old who's still mobile, but can't really do stairs all that well. What is there to do that would appeal to her? Is it possible to rent an ecv for her?

Any advice about great places to eat while we're there would be appreciated too :)

Thanks in advance!

Stairs might be an issue with 2 br's. Most units are 2 br's (very good size) but you must climb one flight just to get to the first floor units due to the marsh environment. 1br's and studios are in the main building and there are not many of them. If you can handle one flight of stairs then you will be ok on the first floor units. I like the marsh view buildings by the boardwalk leading to the lodge building with a clear view of the marsh. Stay away from the pool if you want quiet.

They do have a few connecting studio/1BR combinations in the main lodge. Then the stairs would not be an issue as they have an elevator.

You can get 2bd rooms in the main lodge by the lockoff rooms. you will need to tell them that you need the elevator for or you will just get the luck of the draw. You can see the marsh from the main lodge along with some nice woods view. Not only is the 1 flight on stairs an issue, it can be a long walk from the parking area to the marsh front units. it also can be a long walk to the pool from the main lodge, but I think that they have some wheelchairs at the parking level elevator. At the beach house there is also an elevator. it is to the left as you look at the front entry. there is also a level beach entry to the left of the beach house with out having to go up and down the dune bridge. It is a great place and you are sure to have great fun. who knows, I have seen quite a few grandparents having lots of fun on the water slide. As far as eating, we like to go to the places that have the early bird or early dining. We have enjoyed every place. we really like Alexanders.
