Going from a party of 4 to a party of 6

How willing/able is Disney to seat an extra person on each end of a table for 4, especially if one of those people would be an infant in a high chair? Are prix fixe restaurants more likely to do this? (Ours is a party of 6 including an infant. I have alerts set up for Space 220 -- both the restaurant and the lounge. I already know that the lounge can't accommodate 6 all together, but I'm wondering if a table for 4 pops up at the restaurant without a table for 6 or 8 ever popping up if we could all show up together and ask to be seated at a table for 4. To my way of thinking, with how much more expensive the restaurant is and how most folks who are "in the know" prefer the lounge, unless it's a fire hazard or COVID concern, they'd be all too happy to squeeze in another person and a baby, but I could be wrong.)

I think it could be a problem for two reasons--

1) A party of 6 or more has an 18% auto-gratuity added which you might not be aware of.
2) You'll be exceeding the most common table size--4. We were told once that adding 1 or 2 to a party of 2 isn't an issue for the reason that couples are often seated at 4-tops. More than four means a table for 6 or moving 2 4-tops together, opening out leaves in tables that have those--more work for servers.

As a result, your reservation needs to reflect that you'll be a party of 6.

Disney will not put 6 people at a 4 table top.
Keep looking and if you don't find anything then go to the restaurant when you arrive at the park and ask if they can add the two guests and accommodate you.

Question....I have a party of 7 and I know it's hard to get any ADR. I am happy to split 3/4 but MDE will not let me make a 2nd reservation. Is my only recourse to call? [and wait 3 hours+-]

agreed, they will not seat a party of six at a table for four, regardless of whether or not there are infants or children in the party. You will need to check in as a party of six and wait until they have a table for six available (if they have one available)

They won't let you hold two reservations in close proximity to one another. The solution is to make the second reservation in the name of another adult in the party. If you have another adult that can register on DME and make the second reservation, you can do this without calling.

You’re wrong. As others have indicated, your suggestion of squeezing people in will be a no go… for reasons already mentioned. And I’m sure by putting a person on each end of a table, were that even logistically possible, which is doubtful, would be blocking egress which I’m sure violates the fire code.

At a less popular restaurant, if they were not fully booked they might put 2 four tops together. Not happening at Space… where folks struggle to get any available time slots.
