Going for surgery today UPDATED 10/24

My 4 year old DD is having neurosurgery today. Her VP shunt line broke they don't know if they need to replace the whole shunt or just the line. Anyway, I'll be glad when today is over!

*****UPDATE*****
Surgery went well. General Surgeon had to be called in to do an exploratory on her stomach to find the broken tube. Because she had her right kidney removed last year there was a lot of scar tissue so it took 2 hours before neurosurgery could look at the shunt. Fortunately the shunt was still draining and she was able to just attach a new line to the existing shunt.

I hope it all goes smoothly. Having to sit and watch your 4 dd go through surgery must be very diificult and stressful. It's easier to go through these things ourselves than to watch our children endure them. Please let us know how it went.

I wish shunts were made out of something like Kevlar.. its hard enough to have a shunt put in the first time but to have to have the bugger break and be replaced... that is tough.
