Originally, we were going to be at DL for 4 days the week of 6/7, but plans changed and we had to move our longer trip to October instead. We are still going to be in southern CA the week of 6/7 doing other things, but want to take our 2 kids (they'll be turning 7 & 9) to DL for their birthday for just the day at some point during that week.
We'll be staying in La Mesa (suburb of San Diego) and driving up to Anaheim for the day, so unlike our prior trip a couple of years ago, we will be going to DL for the long haul all day excursion. I plan on waking everyone up super early so we can hit DL early. And having lived in southern CA before, I totally expect 2-maybe 3 hours (if traffic is REALLY bad) to travel from La Mesa to Anaheim. Without traffic, Google Maps says it's about an hour an a half. I figure that 2-2.5 hours is much more likely. My target is to have everyone out the door by 6am.
so of course, this means that I have to do a little prep work the night before, but that's ok with me because we are GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!!!! We gave our girls the option of having a regular birthday party back home or going to just Disneyland (not DCA as well) for just one day and they wisely chose Disneyland.
...prep work like getting my kids' clothes out the night before, packing a grab-and-go breakfast, packing grab-and-go snacks, some $$ for renting a locker for the day, make sure I haven't forgotten essentials like the tickets, a small backpack with a change of underwear & shorts in case of accidents (you never know), sunscreen, a couple of disposable water bottles, etc, phone (doubles as our camera, since we'll be taking all of our own photos during the trip & not doing Photopass).
I'm excited because we'll get to see the 60th anniversary stuff and also because we'll be able to get silhouettes done of our 2 daughters, which we didn't get a chance to do a couple of years ago when we were there last.
I don't want to go to DL on a weekend. It has to be during the week. We won't have Magic Morning or Early Entry since we won't be staying at an on site hotel. So ideally, we would go on Mon, Wed, or Fri. I'd prefer to stay away from Fri, so that leaves Mon or Wed.
Originally, I thought of Wed 6/10, but I suspect that there might be a Grad Night that day, which leaves Mon 6/8.
What do y'all think? Looking for some input, opinions, & suggestions.
