If you see me on 95, HONK! We are driving to Vero Beach for check in June 25th. We will leave Saturday and drive straight through! I'll have to decorate my van so all you fellow DISser's will recognize me!

Will do, Maria! :rotfl: OK what are you driving? We'll be in a Navy Dodge Caravan from VA. Decorating the car is a great idea! Last year we passed a van from our area and we were beeping and waving (it was in GA, I think) they were looking at us weird...then we realized how would they know we were from the same area because we didn't have anything on our car that stated that. When you get close to Greenville, VA which is near the border of VA/NC watch out for state cops. I got pulled over there before.

Any good hotel recommendations along the way?

Bump!

Less than 3 months now!!! :) It looks like we will be driving down, since airfare is REDICULOUS!!!

We go almost every year in July or August....Hot ---yes, Crowded---yes. The first time we went during the hottest time of the year we were sceptical, but it really turned out to be great!!! As long as you take it easy, stay by the pool and visit the parks in the evening. We have come to enjoy this time of year. Always remember, your vacation is what you make it. If the bus is late or there are some things that just aren't going your way....lighten up, those things really aren't that important....The important thing is that you are on vacation and want to have a great time!!!!

Have a great time!!!!

Well, after all the wonderful advice from everyone, we wound up changing our trip. My DH found out that he won't be able to get off from work the week of the 4th of July. So we have a studio at Old Key West booked for May 29th through June 3rd. We are waitlisted for the night of May 28th. We also are on waitlist for the Beach Club Villas. Hey, you never know! ;) I am kind of relieved, since it shouldn't be as hot as July. But it will still be over a holiday weekend, so it might be a little crowded. But we are used to crowds! :)

We were down over the 4th several years ago, the week leading up to the 4th was not crowded at all. 4th of July weekend was very busy but we had been there since the Sun before so we spent one day at the pool and one at a water park.4th fell on a Sun that year. The week after stayed pretty busy, I think we left on Wed. or Thurs. That was pre DVC days stayed at Fort Wilderness, it's one of the best RV parks I've ever stayed in. I'm sure you'll have fun make sure you get one of the squirt bottles with a fan. They're only a couple dollars outside the parks, The Disney ones are pretty expensive by comparison.

You will just love 4th of July week, crowded, but you already know that. The parks will be jumping and it makes for much more fun. A note on the water parks, because of the time of year, they also will be packed. Head out early for your favorite water park to obtain squatters rights. Special fireworks are in order, don't miss those. Your SSR main pool is special for the little ones, walk in entry. DW and I are staying at BCV for late June departing just 3 days before July4th, when I realized we were checking out just before the holiday, I was upset, I'll be missing all the 4th festivities,, we have been to WDW twice for the 4th and really enjoy it, not to mention all the 4th of July Pins I'll be missing out on.
Have a blast with your new friends.

This is good to know. We're checking out on the 28th so hopefully it won't be too bad. We take it easy and don't try to do everything. We did go over the 4th about 20 years ago and it was crazy trying to see fireworks at MK. We actually left early because we couldn't even move the stroller -I would have dumped it if it wasn't MY stroller! We were on the boat on our way back to FW and the boat stopped to watch the fireworks..it was incredible.

In comparison I think Easter in March was worse than the 4th.

4th of July at SSR is wonderful!!! We are at WDW about every 6-8 weeks and spend most of July and half of August in and out of the parks. SSR gets the added bonus of PI fireworks down by the water, with music being piped in as well! Memorial Day will be crazy...people really push to start their summers off. We are usually down that week as well. It is what you make it, so make it fun. Also, be aware that you might hit Gay Days. Don't know when they have it scheduled for this year, but it is around there.
OKW is always a great choice...but don't put off SSR at the 4th...it is like a little hidden treasure.

Pixie Dust!

:woohoo: We'll be there July 2-10. I think the heat would bother me more than the crowds. I just figure since it's myself and 2 kids, we'll just head back to POP in the afternoon for a dip in the pool or a nap. I just have to keep telling myself to RELAX, RELAX, RELAX and have fun. This is a Disney vacation after all. pixiedust:
