Going directly to the park from the airport with luggage...

We're getting into Orlando around 3pm and want to go straight over to UO in order to spend a few hours experiencing the HP Christmas offerings. We would easily lose 1-1.5 hours of time going to the hotel to check in and we will only have 2 soft duffel bags for luggage with us. Is it possible to get a locker for the bags at the park? I think they're bigger than the size UO allows into the park, so do they have lockers outside for instances like this? Any assistance on this is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I don't believe there are any lockers in city walk. Leaving them in the car or checking it at the hotel may be the only option.

Are you staying onsite? If not you can take them tomHard Rock and request the bell hops to store them. Should only take 10 minutes.

We're staying on property at WDW and will not have a car. This is a very quick Christmas trip and we just want to squeeze in some HP Christmas. Maybe I'll just rent a car. Anyone else have any suggestions or ideas? Thanks again!

Wait, maybe I am misreading this, but are you saying that if we are NOT staying onsite, then we can take our bags to the Hard Rock and the bell hops will store them? Thanks for the clarification.

Yes (in my experience) if you go directly to Bell Services and ask to hold bags and leave your last name they should hold them for the day as a courtesy. It’s one of those little known hotel things but I do it a lot when traveling for work. I tip when dropping off the bags and put my cell number on the claim just in case.

Have you looked into WDW's Magical Express? Maybe you could sign up for that and have them take your luggage to your hotel and just not take the express to the hotel, but use it when you're leaving WDW back to the airport? Ask them if they would take your luggage even if you don't take the bus there.

Dont ask them; they’ll say no. But there’s a whole sticky thread in tranaportation forum saying that tons of people have done that without issues.

Well, I wouldn't tell them that I am going to Universal! :) I would probably say I am meeting friends for dinner, won't need the bus and don't want to drag my luggage around with me.

Actually, I am thinking that I wouldn't tell them anything.. just sign up for the DME. The luggage handlers probably just see the stickers and take the luggage. They don't know if it came in on a later flight or an earlier flight.

Unfortunately, we're flying with carryon luggage only, so I don't think the DME route will work. We had originally intended on checking into our WDW resort first, but our flight got changed and was pushed back a few hours, so I'm trying to cut that part out in order to preserve the time at UO. It looks like taking an Uber to the Hard Rock and then leaving the bags and a generous tip with Bell Services is the way to go. Thanks everyone for the help!

I previously looked into this, but did not end up using luggage storage on our departure day. However, when I called the GS rep said that the park guest services would hold our luggage while we were in the park. I'd encourage to you to call and get the scoop directly from Universal since things can change and my info is from early March. It would be fantastic if you could go through security and then drop your bags at Guest Services while you take in the HP holiday experience!

Thanks for the tip! I just called GS and the girl who answered said that we could leave the luggage with them for the time we're in the park, so we are good to go. Thanks again everyone!

You wouldn’t want to call ME and ask about this even while not telling them you’re going to Uni. Officially dme is not a luggage service, it’s tranaportatiom for people. Officially you need to be on the bus. But your second paragraph is exactly the situation.

Calling wouldn’t help anything though.

Oh drat.

Well that’s cool!
