Going back to a rented house for naps

We are considering staying off-site in a rented house (either in the Windsor Hills or Emerald Island Cover neighborhood). We will be traveling with a 5 year old and a 2 year old, so we'll need to return to the house for naps. Has anyone done this before? Am I crazy to consider off-site? Right now we're booked into a family suite at ASMu, but since there will be 10 family members traveling together I'm thinking a house will be better than numerous rooms on-site.

Thanks!

If you have a car, you'll be fine. If you have to rely on other transportation, I'm not sure because I'm not sure how convenient or frequent their shuttles are. (We've stayed off-site but always had a vehicle so coming and going back and forth was never a problem.)

We always stay off site with a rental car. We stay at Indian creek and YES it is very convenient to go back for an afternoon nap. Some days I packed lunches for the little ones only and they ate on the way to the car and fell asleep in the car. At the house we carried them in and put them to bed. Then the rest of us sat down to eat a peaceful lunch. We go in the summer so it is a must for us to go back. Saved a lot of money that way as well. I love staying in a house vs a hotel.

We are booked to stay in Windsor Hills this summer and it is really handy for nipping back and forward if you have a car.

We have young ones and the space is fantastic.

We tend to go into the parks early - spend the morning and early afternoon then return home. We then can go in after we have had a bit of a relax and the little one has had a sleep.

We always say we will stay onsite but having your own house and your own space is a must for us. Sharing a room with the girls would be a nightmare as they don't sleep in hotels very well. They are too concerned they are missing something to go to sleep!!!!

We did this two years ago. I found it was very easy to get back and forth from the house to the parks. Actually, it was faster to take our own car back and forth off-site than it was waiting for the buses when we stayed on-site.

If it were really that onerous to travel back & forth, I don't think there would be a bazillion houses for rent in the area! ;) Seriously. It'll be fine and I bet you looove all the elbow room. Have a great trip! :flower3:

Windsor Hills is no more than 10 mins from the car parks. AK is closer even than that. You could not get to some of the resorts in that time.

If you are going in the summer, a nap for the little ones is an absolute must. From May-September it can get unbearably hot and even though there are lots of air conditioned places, there is nothing like napping in a bed in an air conditioned room. The children will have a better nap and can wake up in comfort and have a little time to wake up slowly as opposed to waking up in the stroller during a very hot time of the day. We stay on site but always go back to hotel for afternoon naps since the grandchildren are so young. Staying off site is not necessarily further away I believe. It depends on what park you are at and what off site location you stay at. Good luck and have wonderful time! You just might find yoruself napping with them too!
