GOG line question

We'll be in the parks in early August. We do have early admission, due to staying at DLH. My plan is for DH & kids to go straight to RSR & right standby, while I get GOG fastpasses for everyone (assuming they still hand them out early at that point).

My question is if we are missing out on some cool stuff in line if we only do the ride through FP (as opposed to skipping the early RSR and doing GOG standby instead first thing we arrive, so that we get to see the whole line instead of skipping some of it by using FP). I know that, for example, in Indiana Jones never going through the whole standby line would have made me miss out on quite a few cool details. Would that be the case here, too?

Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.

Yes! The GoG queue has some really interesting Marvel related exhibits as you go through what used to be ToT's lobby area. There is also a big video screen playing some amusing pieces related to the ride. If the queue area in the garden area isn't full, it's definitely worth taking the extra time to go through the standby line in my opinion. Especially if you like Marvel.

Darn... I have to revamp our plan then, because both my girls are Marvel fanatics (both the movies & comic books). Hmmmm... Maybe we'll look at the hotel guests only late entry hour (though they are only 9 & 11 & we get up early the next morning, so that would cut into bedtime...) just for enjoying the line. Thanks for the info!!!

Having stood in that line for 2.5hrs at RD and then doing it with FP I can say no you're not missing a whole lot.
The majority of the line is outside as with most DLR lines.
You'll basically be missing some music outside.
Inside there is a 2 minute or less vidoe on repeat on a big screen that you may very well get to see even in the FP line.
There are cases of things that the "collector" has collected and some of them are pretty neat but having to stand there for an hour with that video on loop was rather irritating after a while.
You'll be able to see some stuff from the FP line.
Just stick with your plan.

The Fastpass line goes straight to the Collector's Office (the former ToT Library). You get maybe 1-2 minutes inside off to the side. The video is on a loop, but I would estimate it at closer to a 5-7 minute loop. The inside queue time in the lobby area takes about 5-10 minutes before you enter the Collector's Office. I found that the Fastpass (downstairs) and non-Fastpass (upstairs) lines were pretty similar once you exit the Office. If the outside garden area is completely full, I found the line to take about an hour from entry to getting off the line. If the garden area looks only 1/2 full or less, I found the line took 20-40 minutes.

I discovered this after riding nine times in one day a couple of weeks ago when I had the very rare opportunity for a solo day trip. :rolleyes1

I think with EMH you should not have a very long standby wait. You could probably ride GOTG and RSR during your EMH and then grab FPs. I was there on a Saturday and did not have EMH. I arrived shortly before EMH ended and they let us line up in the queue between GOTG and the Hyperian and held us there until EMH was over. It looked like EMH guests were walking right into GOTG.
