God Lives On (or as MHopkins2 says...hookairs.)

She didn't call all non-believers arrogant, she said SHE was not arrogant.

she said "But I am also not arrogant and knowledgable enough about everything in the universe to proclaim with certainty that there is not one (or many) either."

do you not think that implies that those who do have faith that there is no god are arrogant?

No I do not think it implies that at all. I think it implies that she has thought long and hard about the existance of god and has decided that she (personally) cannot know for sure.

edited for spelling

And if you read my entire post I never said it meant just Christians. I said ALL. Since it was the atheists initiating the action here, that was the group I mentioned.
Geez, why so defensive? I was simply pointing out the flip side of the coin, so to speak. (BTW, those who initiated the action here are not all atheists. Nice assumption, but not always true).

I totally believe in the separation between church and state. To use the word God undermines non believers and other religions. "Under Allah"?, "under Buddah"?

It's not about people being able to "skip" the God part and just say "one nation, with liberty...", it's about having a select group with privileges. How does it ends: "... for ALL"??

No I do not think it implys that at all. I think it implys that she has thought long and hard about the existance of god and has decided that she (personally) cannot know for sure.

so what exactly was the arrogant comment in reference to?

she is not so arrogant to believe something is x. sorry, but to me, that seems like she thinks everyone who believes x is arrogant and thinks they know everything.

i am an atheist, but i think that most people around here would agree that i am respectful of people who believe differently than me. it would be nice if that was reciprocated a little once in awhile. for some reason, it's ok to put down non-believers for their faith, but not believers for theirs.
ITA! Caitycaity and I do not always see eye-to-eye on every issue but I have always known her to be respectful of the individual and their beliefs/position. Unfortunately, I've not always practiced that level of respect in the past, but I am trying to learn/change. I think that's all we can ask of each other ... and maybe cut one another a little slack when we fail. :D

Of course you are free to draw that conclusion, but I personally feel you are reding too much into her comments which were about, IMO, her spiritual journey.
