Seems India was in a race with Russia whose effort apparently crashed on the moon. Other they national pride, not sure what this accomplishes. They can sample some dirt or take pictures but still don't see much value beyond that.

Well the US landed on the Moon back in 1969 before the days of the internet or social media. As I recall there was some bizarre conspiracy theory going around at that time saying the landing was faked. ANY conspiracy theory that requires LARGE numbers of people to be in on it falls apart for me since I seriously doubt ALL of them could have remained silent all this time...............LOL.

They have a rover landed and will be sent out to determine if there is evidence of ice at the pole. That was the whole point of trying to land at the south pole of the moon - if there is ice, it could be utilized for a lunar base and a refill point for missions to Mars and beyond.

Yes, I've watched Doctor Who and I know this is a bad idea.
