Well girls, yesterday was a tough day for me. Jackie, I think I would rather have delt with booze at school!
As you can imagine, in my job I spend my day with kids with a variety of issues that have gotten them to this point. Some are just lazy or unmotivated but many are dealing with much bigger issues.
Well yesterday I had a new student come into my class. I knew this girl from a class I subbed in for a couple weeks last year and although she wasn't the smartest young lady, she always was polite and worked hard when asked to. She came into class and happily commented that she had a couple friends in the classroom. There was some chaos as I tried to get kids going (lots of new accounts to figure out). About 10 minutes into class, I asked her if she was able to get into her account, she did not respond. I attempted to get her attention a couple more times before going over to her computer. She was clearly very angry and would not look at me then informed me she does not go by the name I was calling her. I tried talking to her some more but only got the same angry look and short answers. I got her going then let her be. With about 15 minutes left in class, we had a few more interactions and she was back to the girl I knew from last year.
I talked to the principal about her today and was informed that there has been suspicions that this girl is bipolar (talk of other voices, etc) but nobody at school had ever actually witnessed her change personalities. This was certainly a first for me too!
