Sorry if this is a duplicate post - I thought I posted it earlier today - but now I can't seem to find it...

Anyway - I need to make a TON of homemade bubble solution and need to know where to find glycerin (which seems to be in every "recipie" I see).

Where do I buy glycerin and is it expensive??

Also - if you have a favorite bubble recipe - please pass it along!

Thanks!!!

Michael's carries it. I ahve also seen it in drugstores in the pharmacy area, but that's small bottles and would probably be more expensive than Michael's.

This is from the Klutz Big Bubble book...

Bubble Recipe

1 cup soap
12 cups water (up to 50% more water on dry days)
1/4 cup glycerine

soap:

best choice: Ultra Dawn (blue)
2nd choice: Ivory
3rd choice: Joy (yellow)

they claim they have tested several different brands of soap and this is what works best.

unused bubble juice just "gets better with time"

----------

I bought glycerine at Walmart. Wasn't too much. I bought everything to make these bubbles but we haven't made them yet. Maybe today after school....

I have a 16oz. bottle that I bought at the pharmacy in the grocery store, and it cost $11.49.................you could probably get a 4 oz. bottle for around $3.50- 4.00

I've found that bubbles will work just as well if you double the soap and omit the glycerin...it's a lot cheaper that way.

I'm a daycare provider and we use LOTS and LOTS of bubles around here. I have tried every recipe and here is my favorite:

6 cups cold water
2 cups dishwashing detergent (Lemon Joy, Dawn, or Ivory are best)
3/4 cup corn syrup

I throw it all in a clean gallon milk jug shake and let sit. (It will be very frothy.) I wait an hour or so, but you can just pour out the liquid part and try not to get the foam.

These bubbles hold thier shape and will not bother even really senitive skin. (At least my most sensitive kiddos have had no issues with them.)

Good luck and happy bubbling!

The other tip is to make the solution as early as you can and let it sit - for days, or longer, if possible, before using it.

In our experience, it does make a difference. (We use a glycerine recipe.) If the "bubble juice" as we call it, isn't allowed to age, the bubbles don't seem to form well and/or last long at all.
