Anyone ever gone during F&W? I contacted special diets and they will not give me a list of items that are GF. They say they don't have access to the lists/ingredients and stated that I need to go to each individual booth and ask to speak to a manager to see the ingredient list.

They also say that due to the small kitchens that cross-contamination is always a risk:sad2:

Last year, I was not GF and had an amazing time at F&W (felt lousy) but the food was sooooo good! This year we are going again and I'm already depressed thinking that I may not be able to eat anything:confused3:confused3
OR I will have to stand in line at EACH BOOTH just to look at ingredients to see if there is anything I can eat:scared1::scared1: only to be turned away and stand in line again:rolleyes: This sounds SOOO time consuming.

Anyone have any suggestions?? What did you do?

Thanks

That is the answer we have always gotten about Food and Wine. Cross contamination is always a big risk, as the food is prepared elsewhere. There is rarely any one at the booths to speak to about ingredients. I'm sorry, I know this is not the answer you wanted, but we just skip it.

That news really makes me
Sad :(! I was at least hoping I could look at a list of ingredients. I really dont care if I talk to someone. I understand the risk of cross contamination as I run the risk of this EVERY time I eat out. Just frustrated that the only way to get the list is to wait in line at each booth. And from what you stated above this may not even work :( bummer.

But that is part of the "issue" really. WDW has a policy that once you mention allergies, they won't serve you until you speak with a manager/chef as these are the few that have been trained to deal with food allergies. In my experience each booth does not have "that person" in the booth at the moment you want to order.

It is not a perfect system, but WDW normally does a good job in dealing with allergies. It is one of the few places we can actually eat out.

My point is that at f&w the food is already prepared prior to being taken to the booths. I don't need a manager to make my food for me. I just want to look at the list of ingredients. Based on the list I'll decide what to order. I had to look at the list at a CS in MK in June as the manager really didn't know for sure. So, I do know that at least at the CS there is a manual with a list of ingredients.

Trust me I understand. But the way WDW has things set up if you ask the ingredients, they ask you if you have allergies. If you say yes, they call a manager. You don't really get the option of not having a manager.

I have even tried to just have them "withhold" something and they still have me deal with a manager.

Just recently I was told the manager had the ingredients book and the only way to reveiw it was with a manager. Special diets confirmed the policy.

My husband and I were just talking about this at lunch. If you want to do the Food and Wine you can't even begin to let them think you have a problem with some of the ingredients or they won't serve you at all.

They did have ingredient and allergy lists last year at each booth.

I saw quite a few people come up to look at the allergy book without getting in line and then deciding after they looked at it whether or not they could eat.

Oh, I completely understand your frustration. Last year I received the same response from Special Diets at WDW.

However, the fabulous folks over at disneyfoodblog.com posted a list from 2010 of GF F&W offerings. Here's the link :goodvibes:

Hope that helps!

OH THANK YOU SO MUCH :worship::worship::worship: for the link

My favorite thing last year was the lettuce wraps from Korea and it's on the list:cloud9::cloud9:

You have made my day:woohoo:
