I've seen posts where someone got glow necklaces and bracelets at their local Wal-mart. In which department in Wal-mart would I find these and how much do they generally cost?

Thanks!

Don't know where they are at in Wal-Mart, but Dollar General has them as well.

Dollar Tree is where I got mine too. Target has some right now in their "One Dollar Spot" in the front of the store. Another place to try is Oriental Trading Co. They have a catalog and a website. I know you can get lightsticks for $11.95 a dozen. They also have the bracelets/necklaces but not sure of the price.

In the toy department at Wal-Mart where the stocking stuffer type toys are.

E-Bay: Got 200 8 inch Bracelets deliveired for $25.

2 together make a necklace for Daughter, 3 for me.

Once you "break" these glow things to set them off how long do they last?

I was just curious - I've never used these before and I hope to get some for the kids for our next Disney trip. My worry is if the break them too early they will not last until the end of the evening and then they'll want more. :earseek: I'd hate to wind up buying one of those expensive light up things in the parks - although I have a feeling I'm going to wind up doing so anyway. :teeth:

Don't worry - they will last all night. You won't need a night light!

The glowsticks last about 12 hours. I know that they glow all-night-long after we've been in the parks. They double as night lights.

Another note: don't buy the 12" or longer ones because they are impossible to transport. We've had good luck buying a package of 6 6" bracelets that can connect together and make a necklace and two bracelets. They are stored in a hard case so don't get bent in my fannypack. They cost $1 at the dollar store. Be sure to not lose the connectors in the package when you open it (especially at night when it is dark). We often open the package and crack the sticks when it is still light so we can see to put them together.

I love to give them away. I must have given about 50 packages away on the repo cruise in August for pirate night. I didn't want to carry them back home since we'd bought so many souveniers.

Another idea but a bit more money...the Party Store has earrings that glow in the dark. I've worn those a couple times and I get a lot of people asking me where I got them. They cost $3-4.

We got ours from www.berniesglowsticks.com

Not only did I get glow sticks,

but got glow balls:

and more!

Kids loved it.....they took "Glow Stick Baths" every night, had new sticks every night, etc.

I usually find them in the Party Supplies section (with the birthday cups, plates etc...), usually near the greeting cards. They have them for party favors.

This time of year you will probably also find them with the Halloween stuff. I find that there is a much better selection this time of year. Just got tons at Dollar Tree. They had many more varieties than they usually do.

We actually do use them for night lights when we get back to the hotel. I usually hang one somewhere next to the kids bed, and another on the bathroom door. I will also set one on top of the potty so everyone can see where they are going and what they are doing!!!! They are usually still glowing in the morning. I just throw them away and we have fresh ones for each night.

DH and I used a package from the Dollar Store on his Extravagant Birthday Trip (2 necklaces, 2 bracelets) and they lasted for 2 days. We did put them in the freezer at OKW when we weren't wearing them.

Those are the only reason I go to the dollar store. I usually find them at the dollar tree. A pack of 6 bracelets or 2 necklaces and 4 bracelets.

Keep them in the freezer and they will last a while. My daughter's have lasted up to a week, depending on how long she has worn them at a time. You can even keep them in a cup of cold water or ice water and it will do the trick.

I did buy some for our last trip but I also bought the glow necklaces in Disney that shut on and off for only $3. That worked out cheaper since the Disney necklace lasted the rest of the trip. That is a neat trick about making the glow sticks last longer!!!

I also got mine at the dollar tree as well. After plenty of research, I found this to be the cheapest place. Last time I got a pack of 12 from oriental trading, it was something like 15 dollars. This was a better deal since you get more than one in a pack. The bracelets also come with connectors so you can put them together to make more necklaces if you dont want the bracelets.

Hi,

I got those necklaces outside of Fantasmic. I did also see them selling them before all the parades and fireworks. Have fun!!!
