Glow in the Show Ears

I was just wondering if these are popular? I haven't read much about them in awhile. I have never seen them in person, only on video. It looks pretty cool although you can't see them on your own head. I read they are heavy as well. I wouldn't mind getting a pair but unless other people are wearing them it probably would be as neat.

I don't usually bring mine, because they're heavy, don't stay on very well, are a pain to carry if I'm not wearing them, and the batteries have to constantly be replaced. When I wore them for the holiday fireworks, I held them in front of me, so I could watch.

Both of my girls want these when we are there next month. Not 100% sure but I think your family and mine are going to be in DLR at the same time, so if that is the fact, then there will be at least two more wearing them . We were watching Disney week on Destination America the other day and it was the DLR show, of course they were talking about these Glow in the Show ear hats and ever since my girls saw it, that is all they are talking about. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think I read that you can wear then not only for WOC but for Fantasmic too.

I was wondering about these as well. I saw them on Youtube for WOC and Fantasmic. I think I also read that they will react to other places too, but I can't recall where. They look pretty neat

We will be there the first week in June, so we will overlap some days I think. My kids are teens 16 and 19 and don't want them....but I do. Yes I believe they work for several shows/attractions but caused some distractions on rides like POC. At least that is what I previously read.

Also seen them on the Destination America about DLR and that is what peaked my interested in them again.

I wouldn't of taken them off either. Also, I heard these ears will work with the fireworks show as well and they will offer limited preferred seating. I guess so they can show it off.

And at Disneyland Resort, for a limited time beginning May 5, the “Glow with the Show” ear hats will be incorporated into nightly presentations of the fireworks spectacular “Magical.”
As part of “Limited Time Magic,” you’ll also be able to find a special fireworks viewing area on Main Street, U.S.A., reserved for you when you wear your “Glow with the Show” ears. Special viewing area dates are: May 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19, and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis, due to limited capacity.

When they did this last time, there was a small roped off area at the end of Main St, basically even with the corn dog cart. If 1 person in your party had the ears, the whole part was allowed (unlike when they offered this for Fantasmic, where everyone needed to ears to use the reserved area). It was a standing area, so be prepared for that. Also, they did not fill the area, so 15 minutes before the show, they warned us it would be opened to regular guests. The CMs warned us it would happen and were all really nice and we chatted with them while we waited. We guarded our spots at the front of the roped off area for almost 40 minutes, only to have people who didn't have the ears come and push their way in at the 15 minute mark. I know that can happen anywhere when viewing the fireworks, but it's just something to keep in mind.

And I hesitate to say this, but the family of 8 next to us bought a pair of ears for the show, and proudly bragged how they would be returning them after. They didn't even actually turn them on for the show. I mean, doing that is one thing, announcing it with pride takes it to a whole new level. (And then to really make it awesome, a CM saw their kids, and went over and gave them 2 FPs good for 6 people. He gave them 1, and then they told him they had grandma and grandpa, so he went and got another. Seriously? You just have to shake your heard and be firm in your belief in karma when you see that.)

Actually thanks to these boards and generosity of people here a few of us got ours free last summer when Disney was giving them away for free for a special WOC presentation for Apers. And honestly it was great to be there and see the show with thousands of these ears all performing in one place. We were all so desperate to get those ears lol.

And honestly since I got them, about 11 months ago now, I think I wore them about 4 times out of the 20 times I been within the year. I cant remember the last time I wore them although they sit nicely on my TV (looking at them now lol).

The idea is great, but as others said, they are just too heavy and bulky to wear all day and the look of them isnt the greatest. They are great at night but who wants to carry them around all day just to use for a few hours at night?

They are cool when they work but I'm glad I didnt pay the $25 for them for as much as I wear them.

I was planning on surprising my 4 kids with these on our trip in August. I had no idea that they were heavy. Are they too heavy for little kids? I thought they would be fun for them because they all LOVE WOC but they haven't ever seen the GWTS ears before. They don't even know they exist so I thought it would be cool to surprise them with them before the show. Is it a bad idea for 5 year olds? Thanks.

Just a note, they have updated the hats a bit since they were first released to address these issues. Their still not perfect, but better than they were at first.

I also got mine free, with the AP preview. Glad I didn't pay for them. As PP have stated, they are heavy, don't stay on your head very well, and you can't enjoy them during the show if they are on top of your head. They should be redesigned as it is a nice gimmick, if you can actually wear and enjoy them.

As I said, they have been redesigned a bit to make them easier to wear; however, that doesn't fix the issue of not being able to enjoy them while wearing them.

I actually saw these last summer during the Spirit of Boise balloon Classic. The handlers of the Mickey Mouse balloon were all wearing them and they had it set up so they did a small show while the balloon was launching.

It was pretty cool and I wanted to get my own pair but they were not selling them there. I think I will get some this summer if I can.

They are priced $23 something, but it works out to $25 even with tax. Plus the cost of replacing the batteries. Bring 3 extra AAAs if you're going to wear them a lot in 1 trip. CMs will loan you a screwdriver at some stores in DCA, but what they charge for batteries really adds up.

My kids have them. They are a bit heavy. We get a locker anyway to store sweatshirts etc. So, they switch from their Minnie and Pluto ears to these at night time, that's when they look the best anyway. So, they don't have a problem wearing them for a few hours.

I have two pair of these. One pair will continually flash and blink but the other pair flashes about five times and shuts off. I just put fresh batteries in both.
I'm guessing one pair is broken. Any advice?

We were there a few weeks ago and hardly saw anyone wearing them. We did WOC one night and Halloween Fireworks the other. I think they were $28.
