Anyone booked on this yet from Glasgow? I was looking at the details and they have some great prices available.........plus they go every day which means you can go beyond the usual rigid two weeks with the others.....

Is sorely tempting - I worry about booking on the first day (2 June) but it would work out magically for me if it did go okay!)

Anyone got any thoughts/views/news on this??

We've used Globespan for holidays to Spain this year and it was an enjoyable experience. Planes were new and comfortable. :)

BTW, Globespan already fly long-haul to Canada, so this isn't a new concept for them, just a new destination.

We would've used this service next year, but our vacation was already booked. :teeth:

on a downside there is a lady on another thread whom tried to book with globespan to florida and they wouldn't take her because she is disabled . I think she is fighting it at the moment out of principal now but just to warn anybody who is disabled .

here is the thread .................

Absolutely fuming - just tried to book flights for next summer with flyglobespan, who have refused to carry me because of my disability!!!Because I can't bend my leg they say I am a health and safety hazard. Funny how Virgin, BA, BMI, United etc etc don't see it that way! They will not even carry me in their Business Class seats with 50" leg room. Have spoken to the Disability Rights Commission who have given me a couple of numbers to ring - apparently air transport is not covered by the DDA but they do not feel flyglobespan should treat anybody like that. Am waiting for a supervisor from flyglobespan to call me back tomorrow.

I am so angry, have never been treated like this before. Thought it would be so much easier to fly direct How wrong can you be.

Thanks for the feedback folks....don't know what to do about this!

think they should be okay as long as you DON'T have a disablity. If you do then I personally wouldn't chance it.

Here is how the person is getting on !!

Was absolutely furious after speaking to flyglobespan, but by the time I went to bed that evening was feeling really depressed and upset.

They did ring me back on Friday, apparently the problem was because they do not pre-book seats. However, having spoken to an extremely helpful man from the dept of transport (who contacted me) according to the Access to Air Travel for Disabled People-Code of Practice (can forward a link he sent me to the pdf if anyone is interested) 'Disabled people, on production (where appropriate) of supporting evidence, should be permitted to pre-book seats. Those arrangements should be communicated to airport ground staff and cabin crew, for both outward and return flights.' When flyglobespan rang me again on Saturday, I asked if they complied with this Code of Practice, and was assured that they did. However, when I quoted the paragraph in question, the girl backtracked very quickly! Her supervisor is speaking to a managing director (funnily enough they did not want me to speak to him) and they are supposed to be ringing me again on Monday. Watch this space
.

Part of me is not sure if I really want to fly with them now, another part feels I should not let them get away with treating people like that.

I've booked with them for next year too... compared with other charter companies and even Virgin from Gatwick (so not counting the shuttle to london) they worked out at saving us in excess of £800.00 too much money to not book with them

you'll have to let us know how you get on! I took a look at their site and will definetly bare it in mind for other trips.

I have just priced Globespan V Virgin and we're £1200 cheaper for next October with Globespan.

In fact, for next October it's cheaper to go to Orlando with Globespan for two weeks than to Salou with Thomson for 1.

Hello Dean and welcome to the Dis :)

Are you planning on next October?

Thanks for that.

Yes I am.

My family and I always go away somewhere twice a year Normally Orlando at the beginning (We go in March in 06 with Virgin) and somewhere else in October (DLP in 05, Salou in 04).

However, if the prices from Globespan are that good we might just end up back in Orlando.

On the web site, when you have put in your details it gives you the option of flight only or flight and hotel.
