HI
I am considering booking with globespan direct from Glasgow for 6 of us next April. Want to know if anyone has travelled with them, and if so what are they like? Also they are offering villas and car hire - anyone used them for this and if so what's the gossip?
Any information/feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks

Bumping up for the OP - I know some of our members have used this service.

Yes I used them from Glasgow to Sanford in June, flight was 1/2 hour early in arriving and so we were through emigration and out of the building by the time the plane should have landed.

We traveled economy and didn't book any meal, however we were offered the hot meal for free. Flight crew were good, films a bit old ie Mrs Doubtfire but were more up to date on the return flight. People I spoke to on the plane had all gone with them before and had no complaints. New planes are being introduced in November I believe which will upgrade the economy class with a better luggage allowance and free meals.

We booked the hotel separately, with help and thanks to wayneg, but if I remember correctly some of their combined deals seemed quite good value.

I certainly will use them again next year.

My BIL and FIL are due to fly, to different destinations, within the next few weeks with these. In both cases the flight times have been changed from good ones to ones you would avoid like the plague. No reasons given.

We flew with them in 2006 and they were excellent. No delays, fantastic cabin crew and I couldn't praise them highly enough.

We booked to fly with them again this year and were due to fly out on July 1st. On June 30th Glasgow Airport was attacked and our nightmare with FlyGlobespan began. I know the terrorist attack was outwith their control but they closed their phonelines at 5pm on the Saturday and didn't re-open until 10am on the Sunday(all info on TV and radio was contact your airline). Our flight was due to leave at 9am on the Sunday. They last updated the website at 2.30am on the Sunday and our flight was NOT listed as cancelled.

We went to the airport as we couldn't get hold of anyone from Globespan and the inbound flight had landed at 7.55am. We saw the plane and the passengers and crew from it. At 12.15pm we were told by BAA that Globespan had cancelled ALL flights and had NO representatives at the airport. Had been phoning FlyGlobespan from the airport and continued all day until they closed again at 5pm. Never got through, it was either engaged or went unanswered.

To my horror we discovered they were still selling flights online despite having a plane load of people to reschedule. We felt we had no other choice but to book flights online. The earliest date we could get was July 8th meaning we had lost a week. When we finally got through to a human on the phone on Monday 2nd July we were told they couldn't transfer the flight we booked online to our original booking, we would just need to pay for it. After a rant they did.

We eventually flew out on the 8th, flights were fine but not as good as 2006. Our return flight had loads of empty seats so they had obviously had a lot of cancellations.

We have written to FlyGlobespan (twice now) about their lack of customer service and not surprisingly we have had NO response. I will not fly with them again. They are great when things are going well but as soon as a problem arises they don't want to know.

We flew Globespan Manchester to Vancouver early September, we upgraded to premium economy for extra baggage allowance and my husbands requirement for legroom. BE WARNED your hand baggage allowance is INCLUDED in your overall baggage and will be weighed in. Half an hour late boarding but after listening to the Watchdog report this was good. The aircraft was dirty, the toilets disgusting, the entertainment was indifferent, inaudible through the cheap headsets provided, the food was inedible. However the staff took the biscuit, it was apparent our aircraft had been leased from an Italian Airline and the staff spoke very broken english, were rude, inconsiderate and everything was too much trouble. The return flight (on the same aircraft) was an overnighter and was terrible, our greatest concern was the lack of on duty staff once they had tried to put us all to bed. In premium economy your drinks are complimentary, we were made to go to the back of the aircraft and have to argue with the TWO staff members who were on duty. At one point i had to not only remind them i was premium economy but practically wrestle the drinks from one particularly arrogant member of staff who informed me in no uncertain terms that i was disturbing their rest time by moving about the cabin. All the other staff were asleep in various niches around the cabin. This left only two staff on duty for economy and premium economy.

Disembarking the aircraft in Manchester not one of us travelling in premium was satisfied with the aircraft, the service (or rather lack of it) and the obvious poor maintenance, seats were broken and dirty. Once elderly passenger had asked ten times for a pillow and blanket which never came. Another pasenager asked that his wife be moved to another seat because hers would not recline - she was refused.

I have written two letters of complaint to Globespan to which i have not had the courtesy of a reply. I have written to Abta, again they have not replied. I have joined this forum this morning to let you all know our experience - I could go on with a blow by blow but am in danger of boring myself to sleep

Needless to say even if it meant we could never fly again we would rather that than use Globespan again

Award winning airline ! awards for what i would like to know

feel quite concerned reading all these threads as we fly from glasgow on the 22nd dec and have paid over the odds for a christmas new year break.we normally fly virgin, connecting at gatwick but the time between connections was just not do-able hence we thought we would opt for the glasgow direct to sanford route.i would love to hear from anyone that has flown this route recently to reassure me.

HA! HA!

Nah, seriously I hope you are the lucky one. Someone has to be!

The majority of Globespan flights go with no problems and very happy travellers. The problem is when something goes wrong they are absolutely useless, they don't have the backup like other airlines.

We flew business class with FGS in September this year and were very pleased with the service we received, especially considering what we paid for flights. :thumbsup2

Looked at them for next year and their prices seem to have crept up quite a bit. :scared1:

I think I would rather take watchdogs advice on this one, loesing ETOPs cert if only for a couple of weeks is VERY bad.
