I know this is a topic that everyone is worried about. What are your takes on it? Are you worried about it? Do you have a theory? Have you seen the Al Gore movie? What did you think of it? Discuss

I'm not worried about it, I'm sick of it.
I'll die when I die, worrying about something like global warming is a waste of time.
I've seen the Al Gore movie, and I hated it.

This sorta my take on it. I am worried about the ozone layer, but in Al Gores movie he had no back-up reasoning as to why the whole earth would freeze over.(oh sorry with the exception of chile)

Al Gore annoys the hell out of me. That movie was just propaganda.

Global warming is not a problem. It happened before humans were here, and it will continue long after we're dead. Its a simple concept, that we've just not really thought about until now.

The earth has seasons, like hemispheres have seasons. Ice ages=winter. Heat=summer. We've been slowly warming up since the last ice age. we're heading into summer now.

The industrial revolution sped up the process by 2-4 hundred years. yes, that is 2-4 hundred years off our adaptation time. Oh well. we'll survive. Its what we do. We adapt, we change, we survive. Its what makes us human.

We can not change what we did. We can not reverse it. We can stop everything heat and gas producing, at this point, but global warming will continue, though at a slightly slower rate.

Global warming will happen, and it will continue to get warmer until we hit global cooling, and I bet everyone will freak out at that one too.

We'll survive.

It's seriously not that big of a deal.

Yes, I have seen the movie. His movie had many theories that he claimed to be proven fact. There were serious holes in the argument. Because of this movie, I take, and am forced to take, everything that Gore says with a grain of salt. I think his movie did a better job promoting himself than anything else. When someone can tell me what his childhood home has to do with the water taking over continents, then maybe I'll change my mind (while, of course, never ignoring his theories.)

However, I think it's irresponsible to say that global warming isn't happening.

In any case, I am a person who doesn't live her life with regrets. In that mind set, I think having a heap of worry over the future of our planet who-knows-how-many years down the road, is useless. It is my opinion that, as a population, we cannot turn back time and fix something that is so, in my opinion, unfixable, regardless of what Gore or anyone else may think. I cannot allow something like this determine how I live my life day-to-day.

Yes, we should stop pumping toxins into the enviorment. Yes, we should get to more fuel efficient cars. Yes its happening, but they should really stop making so much talk and taking more action if it is that big of a deal. When Al Gor drives fuel efficient cars, uses solar electricity and sets and example, maybe others will follow. I'm seeing a whole lot of talk and not alot of action happening.

al gore is a hypocrite.

He preaches about conserving fuel, but his house uses enough electricity in a week to power a community for a month.

OMG i hate hearing about this bc ppl dont understand sure we have seen alot of dramatic changes in the earth but the earth changes and alot of it isnt even our fault really if u think about it we r like the earyth we grow and we change

we get sick and so does the earth lol

I'm sick of hearing about it. Al Gore and his movie are a joke. I'm not worried about global warming for the reasons stated above in Shelby's post.

I think that a majority of what is said by Al Gore and people affiliated with him is a whole bunch of horse dump. Yes, the temperatures are rising, but that is just nature's course. Studies have shown that the emissions and whatever air pollution their is has little to no effect on the rising temperatures. This stuff about "global warming" was pushed back when the temperatures rose to their highest in the 1940's. But, the temperatures dropped, and they are on the rise again. It is just nature's course people.

Also, scientists and weather meteorologists have found some shocking things about the research into this myth. Thermometers at climate research centers were recently found placed in unacceptable places such as near air-conditioning units, inside wood and metal compartments, and in other places where results can easily be skewed. These thermometers are also placed in big cities and downtown areas. It is common knowledge that it is warmer right in the city because of all the activity and energy put-out of the city.

Even though I don't necessarily believe in this, I see no problem with doing some stuff to produce cleaner air. I will gladly use electric, solar, and/or hybrid cars once they are affordable and proven worthy for the road. However, it is not necessary to make such dramatic changes now. We don't have to (well really, we can't) just change to ethanol gas overnight. It would take many years and decades to make such a switch. If we put in steady research into energy alternatives and "go-green" options, it could have some good long-term effects, and I mean LONG-term, on our environment.

Check out this website to learn the truth:

Do with that what you will.

Here's another thing that I want to say. You believe what Al Gore is saying? The fact that people do is downright laughable! The fact that people believe what any politician says is even more laughable in my opinion. Al Gore is a politician. He is no science expert. None of them are! Scientists are paying Gore a LOT of money to preach this myth. It has to be a lot to pay his monster of an electric bill. lol

Basically, it is all about which scientist to believe. I'm not one of those people that just throw out this issue and forget about it. I did some research and found that article (website in my last post) that has a lot of truth to it.

I call "global warming" a myth because I don't call the rising temps "global warming." I just think that the rising temperatures are nature's course, and the emissions and energy put-out have little to no effect on it whatsoever. I am all for research into better energy alternatives, but an immediate change is not needed by any means.

Agreed.
Personally I think Al Gore is a rich dude with a brain the size of a pea.

i hate it when peple freak out over global warming it's not that big of a deal i do not think the earth is getting warmer i think it is getting slightly colder, i mean the earth has an ice age the ice melts a little and then we have another one it has always been that way, and how they say the ice is melting in antatica the ice is just getting so heavy it breaks off into the ocean, and anyways if what they say really happens we will adapt, change, we are human we have been doing this for thousands of years, now i do think we should find a more fuel eficant(sp) car that is something in time we will need if we ever run out of oil, in the Bible it says we will have water and grass we will have all we need to live on maybe not as much as we want but God won't let the human race come to an end before the rapture and everything, it's impossible to believe such things

There are much larger problems that we should be discussing. Such as what happens when we run out of oil. Plastic is made from oil. We need plastic. what are we going to do then?

Personally, I see a day when we mine landfills for plastic that we can recycle.

That is hands down the most dangerous view anyone can take. You're relying on something written by people who thought the world was flat and if you sailed too far in any direction you would be eaten by monsters. Yeah, faith is good, but you can't take the view that god will save you. You need to save yourself first. Its dangerous to not do that.

Very well said. ::yes::

Global warming is horrible. And a lot of it is contributed to the meat industry. If people cut down on the amount of meat/dairy products then we could slow global warming. Also without all the grains going to farm animals it would lower starvation in third world countries.
