Glitter and hair color for girls at the MK barber shop????

I get my haircut at MK at least 3 times a year.. I use the need for a haircut as an excuse to go down. Heck, its only a 6-7 hour drive...
I am gonna be 51 in a week or 2, and I have the whole thing done! Haircut/styled and glitter and gel! I love it!
Be aware that if it humid, and when isn't it at WDW?, that it can take hours for the gel MM head to dry. And when we got my Dniece's first haircut there it also took a while to get the hot pink MM gel and glitter out of her hair in the bathtub that evening! I think we should have gone down to the pool....

I have a ton of hair, salt and pepper, and let me tell ya, my hair has a mind of its own! The cuts and style have lasted up to 4 months! Even my usuall hairdress at home says it is one of the best cuts she has ever seen, and the last trip to her, in May, she did a perm and only a trim after since the cut I got in April was still so good!

I asked the CM at the MK barber shop why they were so much better/different then the BBB in DTD, and they said it was because they were all res. beauticains with liscens, and hours of training and the CMs at the BBB were not. And that they had to bid for the job at the MK shop. The CM I used to get had been doing the Princess's hair for 16 years or so, and that there was a lot of competion for that job as the Princess always had to look perfect!

Do get there early! I have had to wait for over an hour when I got there after 9:45am. And there is not a lot of places to sit inside, or outside.

I can't wait to have this done to my girls hair in December. I just hope that when the BBB opens in MK that they don't discontinue doing this at the barbershop.

Most definately yes!

pic is of my 60-something year old mom, last December.

Should say, she was so very proud of that hair-do!

Question for those that have gone here......would this be a good option instead of BBB? i have an appointment at BBB one night before MNSSHP but am wondering if the barber shop would be just as good.....

anyone??

Those pictures are fantastic!! This is something we have been doing for years on my ds. My ds loooooves the gels and talked my dh into getting it done and now it is a family tradition!! My daughter had her first haircut here and got her ears and certificate, but it never dawned on me that they did updos and gel on girls. I am DEFINITELY getting this done on my daughter as well!!

Thanks for all the info!

wendybirdgirl-that is GORGEOUS! may i ask how much it cost? we arrive in 3 weeks and my DD would LOVE it!

YES !!
I did this last year for MNSSHP, and it was great! We went 2xs and I did it both times. I like it much better then BBB, but then I think BBB is overpriced, for what you get. And that is because I make my Dniece's princess dresses, and all the rest of the family/local kids costumes. And I like that the MK hair is done by someone with a beautician(sp, sorry!!!) lis. that has years of training.
I just like it better. BUT I don't have a little girl now, she is 23. I might go for BBB if I did...

When we were there on August 10th we got the girls haircut at the barber shop. My 21 month old dd got her 1st hair cut, my 5 year old dd got a trim and gel and Both girls got pixie dusted.

Here are some pics

I think it depends on what your looking for. I have taken younger DD to both. BBB Boutique is a totally different experience, than the Harmony Barber Shop. At BBB, they make the little girls feel like they are indeed princesses. If you are taking a little girl who loves the princesses, I think BBB wins hands down. Also, the barber shop doesn't take appointments, so you will probably been standing in line for a while. My 5 yo DD has an appointment again this year at the BBB Boutique before MNSSHP.

I didn't realise they did up-do's!
Couldn't understand how a mickey head would stay looking like a mickey head if your hair was loose! It all becomes clear now!

I was just wondering if you have to take your own hairbrush/comb like they are now asking you to do at BBB?
I think it would be a great way to start to our vacation!

Also my mum has a short spikey sort of hair cut, but she doesn't style it wth gel etc., would they just do the glitter on her?

This sounds terrible, but honestly... I have no idea! I am a photographer and I took that picture from really far away with my super zoom lens. :rolleyes1

Now I feel like a stalker, but I saw the cool hair and saw an opportunity!

It was a little girl watching the parade outside the barber shop a week or two ago... sorry if she belongs to any of you!

The day I went to the P&P party I got my hair done with the gel and little Mickeys. It looked really cool.

Anyone can take photos of anyone else in an open and public area of WDW.
