considering this particular excursion for the family... was it any good, for those who have done it? do you truly see a lot of fish?

we will also be doing the stingray adventure on the same visit. wondering if there's enough time to do both. should be, right, because they're only about an hour each?

We did this on Friday and DH and I agreed that it really wasn't what we expected. We did see some fish but not a big variety of them. It was also something that you stood for. There are a few seats but you can't see the glass bottom section from them. There were several families with young children on our boat and they did enjoy feeding the fish but other than that, they didn't seem very excited about watching the bottom of the sea. The list on the wall of the boat of the fish in the area is really extensive, however, we didn't see but four or five different kinds. Not sure if the time of year makes a difference.

interesting. anyone else?
We just did this excursion last week. We thought it was a complete waste of time and money. We drove out to a point on the reef, my two kids threw a few flakes of oatmeal in the water, and several yellow fish swarmed. Yes, they were pretty. We saw two types of fish. Like the other poster said, you stand and look way down on a not very clear glass bottom. You really don't see much through that glass. You'll stop a couple minutes to see some coral. Basically, we saw 2 types of fish for about 10 min, then spent about 5 minutes looking at coral on the ocean floor, then back to the boat. I would NEVER do this again.

We did this several years ago and thought it was a waste of time -- and we saw a shark through the glass bottom! The group that runs this has a set program -- they take you out to a set point on the reef, feed the fish, talk to you about the coral/fire coral and parrotfish eating the coral. They told us about the couple types of small fish we saw and that they fed but when the shark swam by when they were in their speech about fire coral, they didn't even mention the shark (it was a little one but way more interesting than fire coral). You do have to stand the whole trip to be able to see anything, there are only a few bench seats up front.
