So what happens to those holding United tickets for future flights if they go belly up?
Are flyers stuck, or will other airlines help out?
Glad we are booked with Northwest. (Hope they keep afloat! ;) )

I have flights booked with United  I booked through Expedia and they told me that although United would be seeking protection from their creditors, they would still be flying. Then they added the "for further info, phone United". I'm just a little nervous!
Anyone know what happens in these situations?

United isn't going to go "belly up". They may file for bankrupcy to reorganize and get the unions to make concessions but they will continue to fly. They are too big an airline to go out of business like National.

I just phoned United, and was told absolutely no problem. Although filing for bankruptcy, it will not affect my travel.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed until that plane takes off...!
