GKTW: A humble challenge to the Podcast Crew

Hello all,
Thanks for the opportunity to support GKTW through the purchase of the shirts you donated. I know the final results will be well over $10,000.

But here is another opportunity to raise money for this great organization should any of you accept the challenge. And maybe others will join in to offer more funds for this simple, but humble challenge. A little history before the gauntlet is thrown. I have registered for the Half Marathon and 5K next year and I have never done anything like this before, and by doing this it forces me to start exercising and dropping nearly 80 pounds before the run. And for the record my weight loss is at 25 pounds (hopefully 30 pounds during my Friday weigh-in for the W.I.S.H.'es "Biggest Loser 7" Challenge) and I am up to 4.5 miles in an hour. Just repond with a "I accept" and the check is in the mail to Dream's Unlimited, for deposit into the GKTW account.

So here it is; there are 7 or 8 podcasters in Florida. I will donate $25 for any of the podcasters who register to join us for the half marathon (possible $200 if all sign up) or $12.50 if you register for the 5K.

Are there any other runners, or GKTW supporters, who will join me in this challenge? Let's double dog dare 'em.

You're actually not the first to suggest something like this. In a previous post a few weeks back, I offered up a challenge, for any member of the crew to give the Half a try.

At least Pete and Kathy (and possibly a few others, though my memory doesn't serve me perfectly) have already suggested they'd do the 5k.

There was a thread a couple of weeks ago about trying to start a DISboards charity team to raise money for GKTW. I know I'm definitely interested in joining if it comes to be. I've been holding off signing up for the 1/2 to see if a team becomes reality but I can't wait much longer or I might get shut out. The 1/2 is already 50% full, so I can't put off signing up too much longer.

I will be at GKTW this Monday and Tuesday to visit some Wish Families! Can't wait!! And really can't wait to walk the half for them in January...if we can pull it off!

And, yes, I think I can throw in $25 in honor any of them that want to do the HALF. If I can do it, ANYONE can do it! Trust me.

My DH has recently taken up jogging so maybe I can convince him to do a half marathon in January. His birthday is in January so it could be a combo-type trip.

I will be in the World this weekend and I get to meet 3 MAW families from the DISboards that will be there this weekend and next week!!

I hope to be able to post some pictures of them at GKTW and tell their story, too. Amazing kids and families!

GKTW is such a magical place that I have a real hard time explaining it to folks. You look at the pictures and think, "Oh, that is neat." Or "What a cool place for kids."

But it is all of that and so, so much more. It is hope for these families. And memories - good ones - that will last a lifetime. I can't say enough about the place. Without it, they would have a hard time granting all of the wishes to see Disney World. The kids would have no where "safe" and fully handicap accessible to stay. They house over 100 kids and their families each night!

So...Pete and the gang...please, please say yes!! We could raise a LOT of money by doing a charity group! My personal goal would be over $1500 on top of the cost of the trip (which is why I have not bought a shirt yet...I am saving all of my money for the race!)

Gosh...I am begging. I should stop!
