Giving Santa his Mickey ears! Our toddler's 1st trip!-UPDATE:We're back! Pic inside

Great pins! I like that each of them mean something! I have never thought about collecting pins. I think I collect pictures, but I don't generally get anything else. Maybe I should start the pin thing! We bought a whole bunch from eBay and my nieces and nephews are "earning" the pins for chores/good behavior. They use the pins to purchase things for the trip!

Ooh, I love your pin collection! One of these days I really need to organize my collection. I especially love your personalized pin, it is SO cute!! :thumbsup2

That is such a great idea. Will have to steal when DD is older! But you need some pins for yourself!! I'm sure you've been good and deserve some!

I wanna see your pins!!

I like the Yoda pin. I have it in t-shirt form.

I have the shirt with the Stormtrooper eating a Mickey bar. "Get a taste of the darkside."

Congrats on getting all of your ADRs! That can sometimes be the most stressful part of planning a Disney trip because you have your heart set on a certain few that you might have trouble getting. :thumbsup2

You have some very cool pins!! I bought my oldes DS and DD a lanyard with a few pins a few months ago. I think they have 5 each, then I will let them buy a few in Dec.

signing on! We will be at the world with our DS around the same time as you. He turns 2 on Dec 17th :goodvibes Your DD is precious! Can't wait to read more

5 Months from Today!!!!
:jumping2::jumping2::jumping2::jumping2:

Yay! It just hit me when I looked at my ticker. To think, I started planning when it was 11 months away! So time is flying by!! I promise to update this PTR this week. Things have been quiet with planning because been busy with boring, non Disney stuff (ie. car issues and switching my DD to a new pre-school). I also took most of last week off and just enjoyed some quiet time. More soon!!

Thanks! Of course I still keep re-thinking some of them. But, that is only natural. haha. I am awaiting Be Our Guest! *crosses fingers*

Sweet. Start them early on the addiction!! I actually am ordering a couple more pins this week. Will post them when I get them.

Sweet! We shall see what it is like with toddlers at the world! Should be fun, oh and challenging. Thanks for your sweet words re: my DD.

Hooray!!! Hah stupid non-Disney stuff! There is no real life, only Disney! ;)

Haha yeah.....when we went in February when DS was 14 mo he and we got all deathly ill. If I can survive that I think I can survive a regular/happy Disney trip! I'm sure you guys will have a nothing but great time though! I see lots of people going with their toddlers and having so much fun. We still had fun despite the sickies but had to leave early. :worried:

I am reading your PTR and can only imagine things will vastly improve this coming trip for you guys! Here is to much health!

Getting My Shop on at the Disney Character Warehouse!

I drove to the Disney Character Warehouse in Sawgrass Mills (SE Florida--near Ft. Lauderdale) today. It's about 45 mins from my home, so I don't make it out there all that often. I was in the need for a little Disney fix so it helped a bit! For those of you who don't know, the DCW is not the Disney Store. It is an outlet, run by Disney and employed with CMs, that sells Disney Parks® merch. I picked up some good stuff and thought I would share with you.

DD has a little Mickey doll, but lately she is becoming more into Minnie. It's been awhile since I got her a little something, so I knew I wanted to get her a Minnie plush today. I scored this 18" or so Minnie Mouse for $12.99. (Reg $20). I also got her this toddler WDW shirt for $3.99.

When visiting another little friend recently, she gravitated to the little girl's Duffy doll. Since they were having a good sale on them, I thought I would buy something to tuck away for her 2nd birthday in October. DCW had the smaller size Duffy's for $9.99 (plain, birthday, 40th anniversary, and St. Patrick.) Then they had the full size Duffy (17"?) for $30, but you got 3 clothing packs with it. You couldn't choose (Safari, First Visit, and Baseball), but I figured that was a great deal as each outfit normally goes for $15 each. They also had big size Duffy's (maybe 24"?) for 19.99. Funny that the biggest size Duffy was cheaper than the midsize.

Coloring books for 1.99. (They are a little dated, but fun regardless).

Finally, I bought this EPCOT shirt for $8.99 for me (I deserve something don't I?), the toddler snack cup for 99 cents, and the sticker book for 1.99.

There were lots of sweatshirts and t-shirts. A couple left over items from the Flower fest. The pin selection was poor. Pins were 3.99. I don't collect vinylmation, so I didn't really look but they had some for sale. Some cute outfits for baby/toddler/kids. Aside from plush, I didn't see a lot of toys.

And since I am showing Disney related purchases, I have 2 new things that are NOT from the DCW. I scored these both off ebay. If you remember from my previous post about Mickey Ear Hats, I am just slightly obsessed with them. I was reading a TR where the people had purchased these vintage style Mickey Mouse Club ears. I just HAD to have one for me! They come in Mickey and Minnie style, and I guess the bow makes it obvious which style I purchased.

And in my previous post about collecting pins, I mentioned that I was very much in want of a Walt Disney pin. I happened to peruse some of the limited edition pins that came out with the re-opening of DCA. I saw this pin and (once again) just HAD to have it! It sold out quickly on opening day as it was LE 1000. I love that it serves two purposes for me: 1. Walt pin! 2. DCA collectible. Yeah, this one is not ever getting traded! :thumbsup2

So that's my update for today. Next post will be a picture post of our 1 night stay at POP last fall. Technically, DD has been on WDW grounds before (but for 1 night and not at the parks!). More to come soon. Thanks for sticking with me!! :flower3:

Great update! That is a great price for all items, especially for the Duffy! I wish we had the DCW near us! We only have a disney store outlet. I would love to get some of those things for my trip next year! I will have to wait for a good Disney Store sale and a good promotional code!

Cool purchases at the DCW! I purchased the sticker book on a previous trip and I can tell you it wasn't $1.99!!!

You're ebay buys are great too, love the Walt pin.

I have to share this with you. As you may know, in June, my 14 year old and I went to Disney with his middle school class for the 8th grade class trip. My 11 year old is seriously jealous that he doesn't get to go to Disney this year, so he is working really hard to change that.

As part of his campaign, he prepared a Powerpoint presentation:

Ben's Powerpoint "Top Ten Reasons We Should Go to Disney! This Summer!!!

Check out slide 8!!!

8. THE END IS NEAR!!!!

Fun, fun! We used to have a Character Warehouse near us, but it closed a couple of years ago.

DS has the same coloring book! I bought it at an outlet when he was still an infant, which makes me think Disney made a LOT of those. ;) I love the little WDW shirt, too; DS has one in light blue.

I know it may not feel like it, but October is right around the corner!

Did you do any other shopping at Sawgrass Mills? I love that place.

Did you hear... The new Fantasy Land opens December 6th....yay!!!!!!! So excited it will be open!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Four Months Away!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I am starting to get really excited. Four months doesn't seem that far away anymore. That's like looking back at April. Yeah, not too far away! And before our trip, I still have Halloween to look forward to so that will help pass time too.

So excited to hear all the FLE opening news. I have been following the construction like a hawk, and I just can't wait to see it all with my own eyes. I am hoping to get an ADR for Be Our Guest. Just hoping the stars align, and we luck out with an ADR. Keep ya posted!

I saw this on Pinterest today. Just thought you would all relate!

Now that we are getting closer, I will start getting back to planning mode with the daily touring plans and such. I am SUCH a commando person, so it is hard not to plan every ride to the minute. I keep having to stop and remind myself that this trip will be different. We will have our young toddler, and are going to have to be a *lot* more flexible. I ask that you all remind me of this as we get closer too!! :thumbsup2

I did add a reservation to the mix! My daughter had not had her first hair cut yet. Her hair isn't all that long, and it definitely has some curl in it. By December, it will probably be due for a trim.

After reading another PTR (thanks khertz), I saw what an awesome experience she had with her son's first official haircut at the Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street. After the haircut, she got a locket of his hair, a certificate, and a "my first haircut" ears for her son to wear. What a great way to always remember the first haircut.

It's a no-brainer to me! We are going to do it on our MVMCP party day, later in the afternoon, and HOPEFULLY before we dine at BoG!

Responding to a couple of posts:

Super excited. A little nervous about crowds, but I think the public previews will help curb that a bit. It's just going to be awesome to see what an amazing setting that has been created by the Imagineers! Have you seen the awesome aerial photographs that recently popped up? Wow!

Sawgrass is such a maze. But there sure are some deals to be made there. I mostly love that I can get a little Disney fix when I'm not able to head 3 hours north.

That is AWESOME!!! He makes a very, very good selling point! I noticed recently on a blog that they have the Mayan calendar on prominent display inside the Mexican pavilion. Time will tell!! :dance3:

I am really happy about the Duffy deal. The outfits alone are like $15 each on the Disney Store site. I'm going to give it to DD for her birthday in October.

I love all the finds from the character warehouse!

Haha I love the ecard!!!

Awww yay to the first haircut!!!! We did that in September and it was wonderful!

I hadnt seen those aerial photos yet!! Very cool. :cool1: I have heard nothing but great things for the first haircut experience. Should be fun and a great memory!! :thumbsup2

That is awesome on the first haircut appointment.

Teena, my friend who works as a greeter at the Beach Club, took her year old grandaughter a week ago to the Harmony Barber Shop for her first haircut. I am helping Teena by ghostwriting a live report of Lily's first visit to the world. Here are the pictures from the haircut post if you want to see:

Oh my, Teena's GD is such a cutie! And you are right, it is a deal. You would think they would charge a whole lot more, especially since you get the ears! (but shhhh don't tell THEM!)
