Giving Santa his Mickey ears! Our toddler's 1st trip!-UPDATE:We're back! Pic inside

Photo Show & Tell: Brief visit to the World - Sept 2011

I can't believe I waited this long to do this particular photo post! Better late than never. So while I am calling the upcoming trip DD's first trip to WDW, it's kinda a lie. Just an itsy bitsy lie.

See, last September, I had a work conference up in Orlando. I decided to be kind and take DH and DD with me. While I was trapped in workshops and keynote speaker hell, the two of them got to enjoy the awesome lazy river and pools at the JW Marriott/Ritz. Since the conference ended on a Friday, we decided to tack one night at Disney at the end by staying at POP. So while DD has been inside the gates of WDW, she's never been to a Disney park. (I told you I was being truthful!).

I had stayed at POP with my mom during a mom/daughter trip a few years ago. I knew it would be a great place for a nice swim and a fun evening over at DTD. While our brief visit was supposed to 'satisfy' my need to see Mickey, it only made me want to go back to WDW more. (duh, of course!) Fortunately, I got DH to agree to our upcoming trip over dinner at Raglan Road. Anyway, here are some pics from our brief visit.

Here's DD (then nearly 1 years old) with DH in front of the main building at POP. We stayed in the 1980's area which isn't too too far.

Unfortunately, this is as close we we got to Mickey during this visit. DD now calls Mickey (and Minnie) "Meeemeeee" She's going to be so excited to meet them come December (I think).

A bunch o' potato heads.

Like I said, we had a nice dinner at Raglan Road. This was our 2nd visit to RR, and the food was still great. I laugh at this picture because it was supposed to showcase my DH and his nice pint of beer. Instead, you see my bm warming up in the Medella bottle towards the right bottom side. HAHA CLASSY! (This just might be a Dis first!)

Ok, now on to the more traditional Dis food porn pics. I had the steamed mussels. Yum!

DH has some meat kabob fiesta. I forget what was on here, but he sure loved every bit of it.

A brief visit to WDW wouldn't be right unless you indulge in a Mickey Bar!

How about them apples? I am still bummed I didn't get one of these apples, but there is always next time. Only a few months away!

This one gives me a chuckle. Looks like my daughter is nearly giving a finger salute! How princess like!

Gotta have the DTD Mr. Potato Head shot!

So yeah, that was our brief 24 hours at WDW. I have pool shots of us at POP, but I will spare the internet pics of me in a pool.

For those who are dying of curiosity (all none of you), here's the latest tally of antenna ears. I am hoping to make it to 200 by the time we enter the WDW gates. Will I get there?

Coming up next, a review of park SHOES!

What adorable pictures from your "almost" visit to Disney. I'm glad you got to indulge in some Disney theming at POP, some delicious food (those mussels look YUM!) and most importantly, a Mickey bar. That was my dessert of choice whenever we ate at the food court on my June class trip. You can get cheesecake anywhere, but there is only one place in the world to find mouse-shaped bliss :mickeybar

Now, of course, you need to continue to take pictures of your daughter at some of those same places in DTD ON EVERY FUTURE VISIT you make.

Oh, teaser trips! I'm not sure I can stomach our 5 day trip coming up without "needing" to go back, let alone a few hours! :scared: I am so dramatic, I know.

Raglan Road looks like a lot of fun! Did you get to see the dancers? We'll make it over there one of these trips!

Are you as excited as I am? :hyper: My ticker will say 3 months soon! :woohoo:

I'm so glad you decided to do the haircut! It is seriously one of the BEST memories we made for DS's first trip. My dream would have been to have him get a haircut in both parks in one year, so I was very disappointed to find out that Disneyland does not also have a barber shop.

Love the pics from DD's first trip to "almost WDW"! If she had that good of a time at just a Disney resort & DTD, imagine how excited she will be to go inside the parks!!

No truer words have ever been spoken (re: Mickey bar!) hehe. And yes, regarding pics! We'll do another at DTD, but I also want to find a spot (castle?) at MK to use as backdrop each pic. I sense a post about this soon. hehe.

Nope, I am not excited at all. Nope. Oh man, I can't lie. I wouldn't be doing a PTR if I wasn't BEYOND EXCITED!!!! ;)

Re: RR, I have eaten their twice, but both times it was an early dinner. Never been able to experience the nightlife there. Should have taken advantage when we were childless.

So true. Your last paragraph has me even more thrilled to see her reaction this time, especially inside a park. :yay:

Be our guest...Be our guest... put our "customer services" skills to the test

Twas the night before BoG ADR opening, when all through the house
Not a person had a ressie, not even Mickey Mouse.
The cell phone was charging, so many minutes could be spared,
In case it took hours for a Cast Member on the other end to be there.

DD and DH were nestled all snug in their bed,
While this Dis'er had visions of a grand ballroom in her head.
And if only I weren't so nervous, and I could at least get a nap,
But it will all be worth it, even if I don't get an ADR in a snap!

Yeah, I am just a little bonkers at this point!
:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Wish me luck tomorrow morning. Will report back what happens!!

That is absolutely adorable! I might have to print this one out for my scrapbook!

One cell phone fully charged here with fully charged spare battery.

Two more cell phones plugged in charging for the night.

3 cordless landline phones with fresh batteries on their bases charging.

Now....... if I can only sleep tonight........

LOL, too funny. I told DH he has to get up with me and call on his cell, too! I think we are all a little bonkers at this point!

I got a BoG ADR !!

December 11th pre-party, baby!!!!!!!! :santa::santa:

For those trying right now...If you get a message stating technical difficulty, but then there is Disney music (on hold), stay on! I didn't even get the automated speal. Went straight to an agent! the CM first told me there was no availability for my date. It was 7:02am!! I knew that had to be wrong. Then she said that they were told dining reservations couldn't start till the 19th. It hit me that she was looking in November. I (politely) yelled out "December! A few weeks later" She laughed and then we got the time and date we wanted. :cheer2:

Wishing anyone who is trying for BoG today lots of pixie dust!!! :wizard:

Congrats Tofu. You deserved it for all the work you did on the thread. ;)

Thanks, BDL. You are too sweet!!

I love the pic of you and your girl on Main St. during Christmas. Seeing the street all decorated gets me so happy and excited for December! Can't wait to see it all with my own eyes!

Congrats on your reservations to Be Our Guest!!!

:goodvibes

Can't wait to see your pictures.

As I was setting the dates, I realized that we will be there 12/12/12!! The END OF THE WORLD!!!! Well, if it is the end, we might as well have fun and be at Walt Disney World, right?! :thumbsup2 (insert heavy sarcasm here)

Hey girlie.....I just realized that 12/12/12 is our dinner ADRs at BOG! I think that would be a swell place to be at the end! :rolleyes2

I will be there the night before, so depending on WHEN it happens (:thumbsup2) I technically could be having the last dinner there. I planned it right! :lmao: I KEED I KEED!!

Congrats on getting your BoG ADR!!!

Congrats on getting your BOG reservation! Super cute poem, too. :thumbsup2

Thanks guys! I never have luck, so I couldn't believe when I was chatting with a CM right after 7am. See, I told you counting MICKEY ANTENNA EARS brought extra pixie dust!! :dance3::dance3:

Yes I'm still here...haha. Congrats for getting BOG!! Lines to Disney were nuts that day! I tried all day to get through to add a couple of days to my resort reservation but never did get through. Anyways, hope it's wonderful!

Joining in from the December roll call. Looks like we'll be at the BCV at the same time.

How exciting to be taking your daughter for her first time. I don't think I truly got the full magic of Disney until I saw it through my children's eyes.

Survey Time! I want to hear from you!

So, the first time I took my little one was at 22 months...

-barnstormer - did not like - kept saying "too fast" - not terrified, just not a fan
-Pirates- waited until 4 and liked it then
-Jungle Cruise - liked
-Tomorrowland Speedway - waited til 4
-Haunted Mansion - still haven't done
-Astro Orbiter - skip for us

DHS:
-Great Movie Ride (concerned about the shoot out scene) - still haven't done, because I worry about the Alien part. Saw a child seriously freak out on this one before.
-Toy Story (even just for the ride, not to play) - loved

EPCOT:
-Ellen's Energy ride (concerned about length of ride) - skip
-Turtle Talk w/ Crush - loved
-Maelstrom - skipped

AK:
-Kilimanjaro Safaris - really liked
-Nemo/Lion King live shoes (concerned that show length might be too long) - loved - didn't seem too long, but my child loves shows
