Well our first day (Friday) at Epcot was not overly impressive so it was with resignation that we headed off to Epcot today. By now we're getting lazier with a 9:30 wakeup call! Hey it's a vacation - we need some sleep! We ate our breakfast in the room with coffee in our refillable mugs - love those mugs!!
We took the hotel bus to Epcot. I love the buses when we're going straight to and from a park - can avoid all the parking hassle!!
First thing we did was do the Spaceship Earth Ride. Still hardly any lineups - been great all week!! We both loved this ride! And the Global Neighborhood exhibit at the end was cool! We spent some time in there playing. From here we wandered over to Innoventions East. The future home was really cool. We played with the computer games for quite some time. We did send ourselves a email but never did get it.
After we finished up here we headed to see Universe of Energy. It was great! I've always been an Ellen fan so I liked it.
By this time we were hungry so we found some shade to sit down and eat our lunch which we had brought in with us.
After eating we went to finish up what we had missed in Wonders of Life the other day. We say Cranium Command which we highly recommend! We also saw the Making of Me which was kind of lame but it's something you must see once! Loved biking on the Wonder Cycles and seeing us go through Disneyland! Now if I had that in my living room...
We looked at Test Track but decided to skip it. Now I'm wishing we had done it! I do get motion sick on some rides like huge coasters that go upside down and simulators. I was okay in Body Wars but I had taken couple motion sickness pills in order to do it. I had skipped the pills today as I was so drowsy with them yesterday and didn't want to do that to myself a second day in a row. I told Glen to go on without me but he said no - it was our honeymoon and he would not do rides without me. Well - it'll be something new for next time!
By this time it was to head over to the Garden Grill for our 3:00 Ice Cream Social PS. I had made sure we wore our honeymoon ears today!
We were early and had to wait awhile. We loved this restaurant! I would love to go back next time for a meal. The ice cream was great! A little pricey but a cool treat! We did the rehichin' ceremony which was VERY short but cute! We got a marriage certificate with Mickey and Minnie's signature. We were getting some great pictures of Pluto and Chip when guess who spotted our honeymoon ears -- MICKEY!!!
He came over to our table and we got some awesome pictures! He got a piece of paper from a CM and wrote us a congratulations note!! We didn't even have to ask for it! I think we may frame it! The family next to us were just finishing up a late lunch and were oggling our sundaes! I heard them asking the CM all about it! They thought it was something special because of the rehitchin' ceremony. I definately recommend doing the Ice Cream Social at least once.
From here we wandered over to do The Living Seas. We spent a while in here doing the show and the Coral Reef ride. We didn't spend too much time here as neither of us are that interested in marine life and we would be doing SeaWorld next Sunday.
Headed over to do Innovenations West. The Ultimate Home Theatre was great. Don't remember much from here. We did get a picture taken at Innoventions (can't remember if East or West) that was free. It was the best picture of all, better than all the ones you can buy. In fact I have framed it in a Disney fame. It's really cute - we're both wearing our honeymoon ears and huge smiles!
By this time it was already 5:30 so we decided to head towards the East side of World Showcase and finish up the pavilions we had yet to do and than exit out of the International Gateway.
Mexico's boat ride was really neat! Maelstrom was down for renovations in Norway which was disappointing!
By this time the 6:00 Tapestry of Dreams parade was starting which we skipped as we saw it 2 nights ago. This made it hard to walk between pavilions! We stopped in the China pavilion . We would like to have the film but it didn't seem to be playing and we were starving!! So we skipped Germany and Italy and headed ,with lots of difficulty with the parade going on, out towards the International Gateway.
Perhaps we didn't give World Showcase the time it deserves. Like I mentioned in another post, here at home we have an annual two week festival called Folkarama which is world renown. It showcased over 50 different countries with cultural entertainment, ethnic foods, articles to buy, etc. We also have a annual German festival called Octoberfest which is a replica of the German pavilion in World Showcase. So much of this was not unique to us.
At International Gateway we hopped on the water ferry to the Boardwalk. Our intentions were to go the the Dolphin to eat dinner. We didn't realize there was a seperate docking site for the Dolphin and the Boardwalk, Once on the Boardwalk we tried to figure out how to get over to the Dolphin. Well we ended up taking the long route all around the Boardwalk Inn! We were hot and hungry by the time we got to the restaurant.
We just wanted something cheap so decided to try the Dolphin Fountain. Great burgers and chips! Cheap with the 20% off DIsney Club discount! We chose this restaurant hoping that the staff would break into song and dance but no such luck!
Afterwards we headed over to Fantasia Golf Course. Again the Disney CLub card came in handy - 15% off! The miniature golf course was awesome! There was a group of very friendly ladies in front of us who were slow and some cranky kids behind us but besides that we had a great time!
Now how to get home to the ASMu? Wasn't too sure. Turns out we had to walk back to the Boardwalk bus stop. It took about half hour for the bus to get there. Had a bit of a chat with the group of ladies from the miniature golf course. FInally the bus came and took us to Downtown Disney. From there we had to transfer to a VERY crowded AS bus! We were dying for a swim and a cold drink!! It took over an hour to get back to the hotel. THis is the only complaint that I had with the Disney transportation system.
FINALLY got back to the hotel where we went for a late evening swim! Love those late swims!!
