Would you give up a ressie at 50s PT for ESPN Club for your hubby? The Buckeyes play on ABC on our first Saturday there. I was thinking about surprising dh and going there for dinner early instead of 50s PT. Two things worry me: will we get a table near a tv at 3:30 and will Ohio State be shown on ABC in Florida? I'd gladly trade my 50s reservations for a Sunday lunch (going on the trade thread to try to set that up). I thought the girls and I could go explore the Boardwalk after we ate while he enjoyed some of the game.

Yes. I haven't ever been to 50s PT, but knowing my Husband, he would much prefer watching a game with some nachos and wings to being told to clean his plate or else he won't get dessert. ;)

There are TVs all over the restaurant and bar, so you are bound to get placed near a TV---whether it's the TV playing your game is another story.

We went to ESPN Club in late 07 and the Phillies were playing on the TV. We got seated right next to one of the TVs showing the game and DH was extremely happy. They are a sports bar, so even though I haven't researched it I'm sure they have a package that shows all of the college/NFL games.

Sounds like a perfect night to me. If your DH is big into sports, I'm sure he would appreciate a little time-out from Disney to watch the game. :thumbsup2

College Football is a BIG deal at ESPN Club on Saturday afternoons. I would not show up at game time and expect to get a table, especially if there are games earlier in the day (which presumably there are). The odds are good that an OSU game will be shown there (they have satellite), but like the PP said, the likelihood of you being near the TV(s) showing it are not a given.

All I can tell you is what we do, show up at 11 to guarantee a table, and get a booth so we can ask for 'our' game to be shown on the TV in our booth.

Who is OSU playing that day?
ETA - just saw your dates and who they are playing -IL. I also checked the NCAA sched for that day and FSU is playing USF at noon - the place will probably be PACKED.

Yes, even given all the warnings from pp I would do it if it fits into your schedule.

If your DH is anything like mine just making the effort to get him his game on vacation will make him happy and make the entire vacation better. As much as we think planning the perfect vacation shows them we care, it's the sacrifices we make that REALLY show we care.

Have a great time.

If you were my wife, yes, I would want you to take me to the ESPN Club. They should be showing the game - the only way they won't is if the game is slated for internet only (on ESPN 360) - but I doubt if that's the case with the Buckeyes.

Definitely go a little early. Tell them what game you want, so they can put you near a TV that is showing the game.
