We are looking to add a contract. We have 160 pts at BLT and are looking to add 100 maybe more if the price is right at BCV or maybe AKV. Tell me the pros and cons of BVC.

Right now the biggest con is that Disney is buying up most of the resale contracts for BCV.

Have you stayed there yet? I always recommend that prospective buyers stay at the resort before buying. There have been too many times where people have bought based upon well meaning recommendations, only to realize that they just don't care for the resort.

Definitely stay there first! After all the raves I've read about here, we tried a 2BR, but doubt we will ever be back. It was nice, but just not "us".

Personally if it was me, the AKV points would be a better value (11 month booking advantage on value rooms, if you like those).

We'd like something close to Epcot. I guess BWV would be another potential but the pool at BCV would be so awesome for our kids and we'd love the beach feel. That would really appeal to us. I will say I don't love the decor of the rooms but that is not a huge deal. Do they have in unit W/D? Saw a pic of a public laundry room and it made me wonder

Public laundry room is for those staying in Studio units, i.e. my wife and I.:)

Agreed you should stay there. I've been there more than any other DVC, so I have a good feel. Pro's -- proximity to EPCOT and DHS, and to the Boardwalk restaurants; SAB is the best pool of any DVC; relaxed atmosphere and nice lounge areas; decent commissary. Con's -- the majority of the rooms don't have much in the way of views; I'm not a fan of buffets, so you have to go elsewhere for sit down meals. Also, the last time I was there in December 2009, it was showing some wear and tear in the hallways. I recommend BCV over BWV, mostly because I'm not a fan of the BWV pool and the parking at BWV can be difficult, although BWV does have great views if you don't mind the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk.

unfortunately my wife is allergic to sand in the pool:mad: so we stay at our home at bwv :yay:

You've given some pretty solid reasons for considering BCV. The decor of the rooms is light and breezy...true to a "beach club" atmosphere I'd say.

As others have mentioned, you get a W/D in your villa if you reserve a 1BR or larger unit...same as every other DVC.

The main pros to me about BCV are the very close proximity to EPCOT, and boat ride or walk to DHS. Also the pool is considered by most to be the best of the Disney pools. It has counter service and ice cream...important to many! :)

If you drive, it also has good self-parking for the hotel style DVC villas...much closer than BWV or VWL.

If you think you like the location, duration of the contract and amenities...it's a great resort. It's also a small resort so it's not very easy to book at some times of the year without the home resort advantage.

I just stayed in a 2 br for the first time and enjoyed the location. Agree the views and location compared to other nearby resorts were not as great but overall I liked it.
The 2 BR did have a W/D and I would assume a 1 BR has one similar to other DVC villas

BCV vs. BWV - Both are great resorts with a fantastic location. They both are close to lots of restaurants.

BCV Pros-
- Dedicated 2 bedrooms some with 2 queens in the second bedroom - two real beds!
- Close self-parking lot - Easy to haul the groceries in.
- SAB - need I say more!
- Pool quick service, drinks and ice cream
- Really, really close to Epcot
- Beachy calm theme
- Boardwalk right next door

BWV Pros -
- GV's - WOW! Lets you dream.
- Standard view rooms - less points and the rooms aren't to shabby!
- Walking distance to both DHS and Epcot.
- BW view reservable category
- Nice views
- Boardwalk exciting theme
- Boardwalk and evening entertainers right down stairs

You should definately try a stay there - or anywhere you are considering- before buying.
We bought at the BCVs before staying there, and found the resort and pool too noisy and chaotic for our tastes (the views were disappointing also - EPCOT view includes a fAirly busy road).
Btw, we also own BWV and SSR, both of which we do love.

We made our first stay at BCV a couple weeks ago before our cruise. We had a first floor handicap studio room. What a dump! The safe didn't work, big chips in the tile floor in the bathroom, the bed had a huge, and I mean huge indentation in the middle, and lastly there was no bed linens for the sleeper sofa. We were very disappointed, and were very glad to only be staying one night.

We did love the pool, although it was a bit cold that day to swim. Maybe we just got unluckly, but I wasn't left with a very good impression.

We love BCV! We added on at BLT because we like the MK view, walking to MK and being on the Monorail. BCV is still our favorite. We dadded on at SSR via resale, because at $70/point and the longer contract(SSR in 2054 vs. BCV in 2042) made alot of sense.

Here are some resort maps & pics of views from the balconies: http://www.parkinfo2go.com/dvc-bcv/

I agree with all the pros and cons for BCV, but one pro that I didn't see mentioned was how well it has held it's value, it's basically the only one that DVC is still ROFR, which tells you that it is still in high demand.
I bought in 2002 and added on twice and can still sell my points for more than I paid for them, and have used those points for over 40 trips to WDW in the last 8 years.
Another Pro, and it really applies to both BCV and BWV is the proximity to more dining options than any other Disney resort, and all within walking distance and not even including going to Epcot or DHS.

1 more Con for me is no more Art the greeter, I truly miss seeing him in the BCV lobby. No other DVC resort will ever have anyone like Art.

I'd also stay there before you buy. We are BWV owners and stayed at BCV last time for the pool. My kids weren't impressed with the pool. Our room was in the middle of nowhere - for all the talk of BWV long hallways, we were really out in the boonies at the BC. Didn't like the Marketplace, stopped by B&C several times - and not during meal times - and it was always a 45 minute wait for a table. Because our room was on the back end, it didn't feel like we were that much closer to Epcot than when we stayed at the BWVs. It was nice, but we'll leave it to other people to book in the future.
